Driving to and from POR

So currently we are staying at POR this August. (Hoping for some pixie dust to upgrade to Contemporary!!!) I am kind of worried about getting around the resort. We will have our car, and can use that to get around, too. But not sure if that will save us any time? I am just worried because I have young kids (and most likely a stroller) and it may be annoying with a bus. But, to drive to Magic Kingdom, for example..we'll then have to take a ferry to MK- so that's not really saving any time over taking the bus, right? How long does it take to get around from POR?

Especially our first day- we have CRT ADRs at 8:30. What time should we leave POR to get there 20 minutes early?

the breakfast character buses start at 6:30 am - so would leave around 7:00am - now don't worry - it may take a while - once the first bus has left.

they only get a minimum buses for this early route.

that say - you might be better off driving - since you have a reservation you can park at the CR.

but after that definitely go with the buses - just think how much time you need to make sure everyone is buckled up in their safety belts - which you don't need to worry about on the WDW bus.

buses from POR generally get you anywhere you want to go in about 15 minutes or less. Peak times make for some problems but that's anywhere.

What I've found on the buses is that most people are understanding and accommodating to "challenged" parents and are willing to help.

you know...they have bike racks...they should have stoller racks on the buses.

Having a car at POR is great. We never used the buses. It is very easy to get around and so much quicker. Also if you are AAA and booked with them you can get the parking pass which gets you closer in to the places. The ferry or the monorail to MK is no big deal. No matter how you get to MK you need to leave yourself plenty of time to get to the park then through the gates and down mainstreet and into the castle so look at all those things to do to determine your time you'll need. Have a great time POR is fantastic we are heading back in June, & yes we will have our car.

if you drive - out of Por - turn right - then at the traffic light left - say on this road - it will dead end (turn right) into the road that MK resorts are on.

once there get in the left lane (before the light if you can) the right lane quits a little beyond the light.
