Driving Time from Atlanta to WDW

It really depends where in Atlanta. We're ITP (that's inside-the-perimeter for non-Atlanta folks looking at this because they're driving through ATL from outside of ATL), and it can be anywhere from 6.75 to 7.5 hours, depending on traffic, speed and potty breaks. We usually leave at 6 am, and arrive around 1sh pm. We stop for 2 potty breaks, and a gas refill halfway in Valdosta.

The first time we drove, I was nervous about such a long drive, we booked the Homewood Suites in Gainsville FL, which is slightly over 5 hours from ATL. Let me tell you, that was a BAD idea. The couple next to us woke us up at 4:30 am. At first we thought they were fighting, but it soon became obvious it was an amorous interlude. Kids were up, we were up. We would have gotten more sleep had we driven all the way to WDW. Lesson learned. SInce then, we've joked about the Hoewood Suites in Gainesville. :rotfl2:

P.S. - I do try to drive 76-80 mph as much as possible.

Hi, vinotinto. I agree with everything you say. I live in the city, too. Atlanta sure has grown over the 61 years that I have lived here.

Though you have gotten lots of advice, just drove back today from WDW. In general it takes about 7 hours. Sometimes a little faster and sometimes slower, this includes usually 2 stops, one quick bathroom break and then a second bathroom, gas, food break. We left on Wed after a full day of work. When we leave after work we typically (and did this time) stop in Gainesville and spend the night. After a full day of work and then the dark (hypnotic white lines on the highway), just barely make it the 5 to 5.5 hours to Gainesville. The nice thing is the next day it is only 1.5 hours to Disney and you can be there at open. Gainesville has lots of hotel, food, supermarket options. It is a good place to stop. Just remember once you hit the florida boarder, there really is not much till you get to Gainesville. There is a nice rest area just over the boarder if you don't think you can hold it till Gainesville.

I'm going to move this to our transportation board.

Thanks for all the comments! Now can someone tell me which exit I would need for POFQ? :confused3 I am sure there are several different exits for Disney resorts and it would be my luck I would take one that would cost me some time :rotfl2:!

75 s to exit 328 florida turnpike. Drive 39.7 miles to exit 267a merge right towards south/Tampa. Drive 14 miles to exit 8 Disney world. Follow exit around and drive through Disney gates. Turn left at light/dead end and follow signs to hotel.

This way will keep you off I-4 and out of traffic.

If you get off the Turnpike at exit 267 and take the Western Beltway, you would get off on Exit 8 and when you come off the ramp, you are at the back gate, just follow the signs and you should have no trouble finding POFQ.

No way on in heck, would I take the Turnpike to I-4 that will add almost another hour to your trip. We had to on our first trip, because the the Western Beltway didn't exist, but since then we have and the difference is unbelievable.
