Driving through the night...

I had thought about driving through the night when we go in April, but decided to break up the drive to Orlando. I have to work the day we leave, from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and was going to come home and sleep until around midnight and hit the road. Now, I'm planning to come home, nap for a couple or three hours (easy to do when you have to get up that early) and then get on the road. We'll stop somewhere around Biloxi or Mobile for the night, get up early, and then head for Orlando. Coming back we'll do it all in one day, but we'll have a short day in the parks the day before and get plenty of sleep.

We drove straightthrough in May from Texas, about 17 hours total including stops. If we drive again, we'll do it this way.

Nighttime driving was the BEST - the roads were clear, drivers were courteous, is was GREAT. I dreaded the morning sunrise because the roads got crowded and the drive became more stressful.

It was a great decision for us, we left at 10pm on a Friday night adn got to Orlando by Saturday afternoon =) It was just 3 adults, so one slept while the other 2 stayed up and kept each other busy.

It was great!
