Driving San Jose to DL-where to stop?

Have you visited Solvang before??? I scanned the posts, not sure what time you are traveling, but Solvang (close to Santa Barbara) is a beautiful Danish town with parks, bakeries and restaurants. And very pedestrian friendly.

Doing this in July. Wondering on best time to leave taking the 5 to avoid the most traffic

I agree--take 5 NOT 101. 101 is slow and isolated--while 5 is a straight clear shot.

I have driven this drive so many times--we are a Bay Area family that has family that lives in SoCal--so I have learned a thing or two over the years.
