Driving on Thanksgiving Day

We are going to WDW the week after Thanksgiving. It's a 16 hour drive for us, not including stops. I had the idea that if we started driving in the afternoon on Thanksgiving Day, there would be no traffic, because everybody would be at home eating.

Is that crazy? Dh and I can take turns sleeping, so we weren't planning to drive straight through.

That probibly is pretty good logic. I would watch out though at about 12pm the day after Thanksgiving Too many turkeyhead drivers on the road

We drove all day on Thanksgiving day back in the late 90's and most of the day on the day after Thanksgiving. We had the road to ourselves the whole time! Even driving on Friday because people are still at their destinations and not yet heading home. The only traffic we had was in Atlanta and that was because of all the mall traffic for the day after sales.
