No Cajun the I-10 bridge in Pensacola is not closed. The current bridge that was damaged by Ivan was just fixed so it can be used until they complete the new ones they are currently building. Yes, parts of it are grated. However the east bound is more grated than the west bound because the east bound bridge had more damage. They have done all the repairs they plan on doing to the current bridge, so what you see is what you get, but there are workers present because they are working on the new bridges. The "powers that be" decided that if they just re-did the old bridge that another hurricane would just destroy it again. Ivan was not the first hurricane to damage these bridges. So they are building new higher bridges they say should be a little more hurricane resistant. I hope this answers you question.
