Driving from WDW to HH

We will be home from Jan 7 til 13. We usually stay in a park til late afternoon then drive to Kingsland GA and stay overnite which leaves about 7 hrs drive the next day. But we were discussing if reasonable to drive to HH and stay one night instead.

Question is....how many hrs from WDW to HH? Has anyone else done this?

Also, does anyone know how much cash ressies are for a studio, and a 2 bed? And do we get a discounted rate as DVC members?

I'll try to answer as many of your questions as I can.

We went from HH to OKW a couple of years ago and I believe it was about a 4 hour trip. We have 1 night on cash for our trip in a couple of weeks for a 2 bedroom unit for a Friday night and we are paying about $130 with tax. I believe that's a 25% discount.

We do it every trip, as we have a condo in HH and it breaks up the trip for us coming from Charlotte. Travel time is more like 5.5 hours. We usually check out of the hotel, mess around DTD for 2-3 hours including having lunch, then hit the road for HH, arriving there in time for dinner.

Don't know the rate for the DVC there, but everyone has been talking about the 2 bedroom, $99. special. Maybe try a search, or perhaps an expert will post here.

Its about 320 miles from Orlando to Hilton Head Island.

The $99 rate was offered to Disney VISA cardholders and, as an AP discount. There are, of course date restrictions, but if you qualify, go for it! The DVC discounted rate is not all that much higher for some dates, though -- I think about $125 per night.

One thing you will want to know, though, is that it's about a 30 -45 minute drive from I-95 to the Disney resort. If you're just doing an overnight stop, it might not be the most convenient place to go. (Also, you wouldn't get a chance to get to know this fabulous place!!) But if you can spare an extra couple of nights, definitely go for it! Be careful, though -- it can become addicting!!
