Driving from VA to WDW, need suggestion for motel stop on 95

Hopefully this is the right place to post this, sorry if it's not (please feel free to let me know if there's a better place for it)

We are driving down from Richmond VA to the world in May. We want to split the trip up a bit instead of trying to make it in one day (with a toddler in the car who doesn't really like car rides, a stop will be necessary!)

I'm trying to find a good motel deal along I-95, preferably in the southern part of South Carolina or near Brunswick Georgia. (would prefer to do the bulk of the driving the first day, and leave a short trip from the motel to WDW) And hopefully for under $60 a night. We don't need anything fancy, just a clean place to sleep for the night.

Anyone have any suggestions for great motels or places to stay away from?

You can never go wrong with staying near the Savannah/Hilton Head AP - plenty of options right off of 95, leaves you with about a 4-4.5 hour drive to the Mouse from there.

My family recently stayed at the Microtel in Pooler, GA. It's near Savannah right off 95. Great rate, great experience.

I agree. From this area, the SC/GA line, you have right at 300 miles left to WDW the next day. Lots of hotels to choose from. We usually try to get down to the airport exit 104 in GA.

We are also from VA. Last year on our way to WDW we stayed at the Best Western in Yulee Florida (near the GA line). The hotel was around $70 a night. It was clean and had good service, free breakfast was and right of I-95. It might be a bit further than you want. We hit the road the second day and were at Disney before lunch.

We're driving to Universal from Western, NC in Jan and we plan to stop in Kingsland, GA or at the Jacksonville airport. Both will leave less than 2 1/2 hours next morning to Orlando.

We live in Hampton Roads

Going to HHI or Late Start to WDW we stop in Florence SC.
Preferred hotel: Residence Inn
Cheaper option: Country Inn & Suites

Going to WDW we stop near Savannah International Airport
Preferred hotel: Embassy Suites

Savannah GA..Baymont Inn and Suites

both clean, nice area right off 95 exit and somewhat reasonable.
