Driving from Pittsburgh PA, any neat places to stop?

We are driving down in July from Pittsburgh, PA. We did the drive last year, but pretty much drove straight through. We are driving down this time with friends and their children (10 of us in all) and wondered if there were any neat places to stop on the way down for either the kids or grown-ups. Also recommendations on good places to spend the night in SC or GA would be helpful too!!!

We've done this drive a number of times. A nice place to stop for a rest is New River Gorge, in West Virginia (http://www.nps.gov/neri/index.htm)
