Driving from Massachusetts any advice????

Wow, that's great! I'm glad someone else will be going on the same drive we are going on. I think we'll be going later in the month, so I will be very interested in hearing how your drive went (and learning from things that maybe didn't go so great). Do you know if you're planning on stopping somewhere or driving straight down in one shot?

Since we have NEVER driven before i have been also tryin to learn from other mistakes and taking in all of the advice they can give. As of what we have figured out we are gonna leave at, like i said, 10 pm. DH & I are gonna sleep from like 2pm - 9:30pm, while my mother watches the kiddies. That way the kids can sleep when we leave and we will be well rested. So we plan on driving from sturbridge to South of the Boarder for lunch around 12pm, then onto St. Augustine around 7pm or so. Have dinner then get a room somewhere and have a well deserved nights sleep lol then up at 8 am, have breakfast, then the 2 hours or so to the Pop!!! That way we can be rested enough to head to the parks on the 1st day :)

Then on the way home we plan on stopping @ Shenandoah Caverns and Washington DC to see the sights there.

Who knows if all will go as planned lol. Do you have any idea of what your plans are??

We just bought a new van with this road trip in mind lol well we had to make sure all our stuff would fit :confused3 lol including the 3 kiddies

Now that DD has turned 2 (since she would need an airline ticket) we have decded to make the trek this April to Disney by CAR. We priced out airfare and it would place us way over budget. We plan on leaving Thu Apr 12 sometime in the AM (early if possible depending on if DH is still working overnights) and we are attempting to drive straight. I will do the first trek so DH can sleep and we will switch as we get tired. If we become very tired we will stop at a hotel hopefully mid SC or beginning of GA to sleep for a few hours and leave early AM. Any suggestions would be appreciated and good rest stops where kids could run and stretch. DS will be 6 and DD 2. We have a incar DVD system and DS will have his Nintendo DS. DD is our fear as not much keeps her attention she is high energy and sitting for long periods is tourture for her and us :rotfl2:.

I only drove from here twice and I have to say I didnt really mind it the posts about 95 and NY were absolutely right though. We leave aruond 5pm and drive all the way through it takes us about 18-19 hrs (but we have no kids so we do some speeding here and there) We do saty on 95 tho but i had found the most trouble going through NY. its pretty confusing. Theres sooo not a lot to look at but you cant not stop at south of the border after reading the signs for waht seems like 5 hours ...its pretty fun even tho its filthy. I will prob be doing the drive again soon when I move down ...kind of dreading that but i have a lot of planning to do still. Youre right tho flying from Boston has been really unbelievable last couple years. I usually just go me and my parents and its about $1000 just for airfare cuz mom wont do stop overs. It really adds a lot to the cost driving wasnt too expensive even with the high gas prices you save plenty
