Driving from Houston

We are planning on driving this time to the World from Houston, Texas in March.

We hope to leave very early on Saturday morning (5am) and arrive sometime late Saturday night.

We have three kids, (who are all excellent car kids).

Has anyone out there done this before? Do you know of any really great places on I10 to stop for a very quick rest, lunch, dinner, etc.?

I've driven from Dallas twice. It will probably take you about 4-5 hours less, since it took us about 8 hours to get to New Orleans (that's where we started on I-10). I think it took us around 18-20 hours.

There are plenty of the typical fast food places all along the Interstate. I think the most desolate part of I-10 is the segment from Houston to Baton Rouge, but you shouldn't need to eat or anything then since you'll have just started.

We drove from San Antonio to WDW several years ago. If your intention is to arrive late night of the same day you leave (which IMHO is no easy feat) then you probably just ought to settle for whatever fast food is convenient. Or...take a cooler and pack sandwiches/snacks and stop only for gas. We left on a Sat. morning around 9am and arrived on Sunday around 4 pm. We stopped to spend the night in Biloxi. We did encounter very heavy thunderstorms all through Fla until Tallahassee, so that did slow us up a bit. At any rate, God Bless and drive safely.

I have driven from Dallas many times. Once you get passed Pensacola It is pretty dead. we stop at Cracker Barrel in Pensacola. We celebrate making it to Fl. We now live in AZ 1100mi farther . We drove last 2 times going to fly this time
