Hello: We're thinking of driving to WDW third week of March, any thoughts on which route to take? Where to stay? Where to eat? I was thinking of doing it in three day/two night? Thanks Canadian Tom

I'm only a half hour from the Border, and always take the i90 to i79, i77 route. It's the most direct route and takes you through NY, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida. We usually stop in South Carolina on the way down, that's about 12 hours in, leaving a 7 hour drive on day 2. Depending on the weather, March can be a bit tricky if the temperature's below freezing, especially once you get to the hills in the Virginias. Three years back we drove down March Break, and had -10 C weather in Pennsylvania, but the no real issues with snow.

We use the same route as stated above… we leave from east of Toronto (Durham Region) .. although we generally drive straight through on the way down and then stop just north of Charlotte in Mooresville on the way home.

We are actually leaving at 4:30 today to drive down and we will be taking the I79, I77 route. I have done that and I75 and I really prefer the I79 route. You drive through a lot of states and to me that keeps me going, rather than driving through Ohio and Georgia that feel like it takes 12 hours to drive through each. haha We are leaving tonight and driving to Weston, WV and the rest the second day.

Good luck on your drive down today. Let us know how it goes and the place you stayed and how was it? Thanks

Canadian Tom, we have done both routes,,it depends on the weather. I75 is more inland so not always hitting snow. It also has many more places to stop on the way if you need. We have always driven straight both ways. Last time was March 2020, yup we were there for the day Disney closed. So on way down we drove I75 and after being there for 3 days drove home I77 route. Both are fine, I77 could be a couple hours shorter. Just if this is your 1st time driving,,,,OBEY the speed limit,,especially in Georgia. There are many police on the overpasses.
If you plan on stopping overnight, if you have CAA there are some places with good discounts we have heard.

Everyone going down the I90 I79 I77 route beware of the town of Summersville W. Virginia, DO NOT SPEED, there is a speed trap there for tourists. We travel that way from a half an hour away from the border, but usually in April, check the weather for a clear window of no snow before you take that route.

The fact does remain that the speed trap in Summersville is just a way for the town to use the road to generate revenue.

Hey Canadian Tom...

We drive down for March break each year. DW is a teacher. We leave Burlington (about a 45 minute shorter drive than you) on the Friday around 330pm and stop night one in Bridgeport, WV. We usually arrive around 1030pm. We will stop for dinner at Cracker Barrel in Erie, PA (don't hate us just because we love Cracker Barrel). Next day is a longer drive to Kingsland, GA. Usually about 11.5 hours stopping at 630pm. Again, we eat at Cracker Barrel in Kingsland. Next day is a short 2.75 hour drive to WDW arriving around 930am.

On the way home we drive 11.5 hours from WDW to Princeton, WV arriving around 630pm. Shockingly, we eat dinner at Cracker Barrel in Princeton. The next day we drive home to Burlington in about 8 hours arrivng around 4pm. Sadly, no Cracker Barrel in Burlington.

This is the I79/I77/I26/I95 route and yes we obey the speed limit going through Summersville, WV but still much faster going through Summersville.

We have done both routes but prefer the i79, although I would not want to do that in the winter.

Son goes to Virginia Tech so we often stay in Princeton before driving into Blacksburg. Always stay at the Residence Inn. No problems ever.

Also on the routes mentioned above - Biscuit World is also a good stop - breakfast and other types of biscuits - yum!

Where did you stay in Princeton WV?

PS- DO NOT get gas in PA - highest taxes ever. Either get in NY or wait until WV!!

Good route suggestions here by others.
I would add: I strongly suggest to have the Waze app on all the time, volume up. It's amazing in alerting you about police and speed traps. Not a data hog at all but whatever data it takes to have it on, it's worth every penny. As others have mentioned, lots of police on the routes mentioned.
