Mom2of2,
We stayed at Hampton Inn -- I don't remember the exact cost, but I do know it was more than $50 -- maybe around $80. We did have a coupon from the Entertainment Book that brought it down a little. There are a couple of exits off Rt. 95 for Brunswick -- both have pretty much the same types of hotels and restaurants -- Applebee's, Cracker Barrel, Denny's, etc. It is about a 12 hour trip for us to Brunswick. Stopping at 3:30 PM or so gives the kids (and us!) a chance to unwind in the pool, and then we just walk across the parking lot to Cracker Barrel or where ever for dinner. We are on the road by 7:30 the next morning and arrive at WDW by 11:30. It just works better for us this way rather than driving straight thru. We arrive ready for a full day at Disney and aren't exhausted.
The best tool I have found for driving is a book called The Next Exit. It lists all the interstates that run through the United States and tells you exactly what hotel, restaurant, gas station, etc. you can find at what exit. If you are traveling with a specific gas credit card, for example, you know exactly where you'll be able to stop. Also, it is really helpful with hotel information.
