Hello Everyone,
We have decided to drive down to WDW:drive: and take the auto train back. My problem is I drove a few years ago and used gasbuddy to budget my gas for the drive down. Can I say it was HORRIBLY wrong!!!!!:furious::furious: It blow my whole spending money budget for that trip and we had to be careful because we still needed money to make it home.:headache::rolleyes2 That year I drove a 05 Kia Sorrento (so that drive was in 2007 I believe) and I now have a bigger vehicle, an 09 Kia Borrego so I know it will cost more. To fill my car cost about $75 and gasbuddy has my trip from Delaware to Orlando at $150. There is no darn way that is correct!!!! My daughter is also driving her 2012 Kia Soul & they have her trip at $90, again I know that is wrong.

Anyone who has driving from the Jersey,Philly, Maryland area that can tell me the car model (for comparison), the gas amount you paid (I'm using regular 87 gas) and any tolls if you can remember.
Thanks so much.

More than double that for my minivan from MD to Orlando. Closer to $350.

Try AAA's fuel calculator.

It's 900 miles each way from Annapolis x what kind of mileage you get x current price per gallon. Once you are over into MD and 95, there aren't any tolls until you get close to Orlando.

Exactly!!! That is off by at least $100. Thank you so much for replying. I will put $450 or so aside since DD is driving her car as well.

We actually leave tomorrow morning for Orlando. We are just outside of Lewes and take Rt 13 down across the Bay Bridge/Tunnel. We have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Last year on our trip, we had to stop once for gas in S.C and not again until we got into Orlando. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact amount we spent on gas but the AAA calculator has us at $303.16 roundtrip this year. No tolls (other than the bridge/tunnel), we get onto I95 just before the NC line. We both grew up in the DC area so we have had our fill of the Capital Beltway and the mixing bowl area :). I hope this helps.

I have found that the AAA Gas Calculator is a more accurate predictor.

GasBuddy assumes that the tank is full when you leave home and does not include that in the "calculation".

If you know the gas mileage you get on the type of driving you'll be doing, the distance you are travelling, and gas price estimates, you should be able to get real close to the actual cost.

Just divide the miles to be travelled by the miles per gallon you typically get times the gas price.

Example: Travelling 1000 miles, get 25 mpg, and gas price is $3.50

Estimate would be 1000/25 = 40 gallons of gas x $3.50 per gallon = $140.

When I drove on a regular basis from MA to FL, I was driving a vehicle (GMC Sierra 4x4 Pickup truck) which got 20 MPG. I would fill up in MA, then at Exit 1 in NJ which would be something like where you are starting. From there, it was a stop in Roanoke Rapids NC, Walterboro, SC and then Daytona Beach (or I sometimes stopped in GA at exit 3)

In any event, it was 3 tanks of gas on the road from the NJ/DE area.

Ok thanks a lot! That really helps

We have a Toyota Sienna and it's around $350 round-trip. We definitely run out about every 6 hours and it costs about $60 to fill my tank. We usually need to fill it right around when we are getting there, which gives us an almost full tank for the week, and then repeat for the way home.

We are on the shore, 1.5 hours from the DE border.
