We will be traveling Oct 8th to see the mouse and was curious if any fellow Carolina folks hit any major snags (road construction) along I-95 or I-4 through Orlando area. Typically, I can do this trip in 7 hours max!!

There is always a 30-mile stretch of construction somewhere along I-95 in GA, but it shouldn't slow you up too much. 7 hours from Columbia is definitely do-able. We're there in 6 flat from the Charleston area. Have a great trip, and try to post how the drive went for you - we'll be following you down a week later!

About a month ago, there was a 45 minute delay southbound on I-95 below Savannah, GA due to construction. Traffic moved at about 10 mph for about 20 miles.

Expect delays. You might want to check back closer to Oct. 8.

Your main problem will be the aforementioned construction through Macintosh County (and to some extent Glynn County) in Georgia. They are both south of Savannah, and in any event, it's a pretty tight road through there though (jersey barriers on both sides with no where to go, plus bridge construction).

(I live in Camden County which is below Macintosh and Glynn--watch out of the County Boys, they are thick on 95 in Camden County)

It's about 30 miles or so, if that, then you're clear all the way to I4---

Depending on what time you get to Orlando--well, it has the potential to be ugly...

The aforementioned road construction area in the lower half of GA was for years a 29 mile crap shoot of orange barrels and well hidden troopers. We drove through there 3 weeks ago and that zone is shorter, and greatly improved (wider lanes). We breezed through with no slow downs, in either direction. Hopefully, it means they are completing some of the work.

From Columbia, it took us about 6 hours, going the 26-95-4 route.
