Driving down to Mickey's for Christmas!

I hate how things sound for poor Lily. Keep calling and bugging the case worker...I would do it every day to show how much you love that little girl! Please talk about her all you want, hear to listen.

I see a lot of your "sister" in parents...they have no business being parents and continue to put themseleves in front of their children.

Good advice, Tammie! And to reiterate, we are definitely hear to listen, Heather! And not repeat.

I got tickled at you saying your DH looked at you funny by busting out laughing at the computer and then not understanding when you explain to him why... :lmao: I try to do that, too, with my DH and he just blank stares me. However, I think he is relieved I have dis friends now because I talk to you all and he only has to hear the answers to questions he asks! :rotfl:

I caught what you said about losing a child in 2007, as well. I'm so sorry. I lost a nephew that was the same age as my Nolan and it was hard enough being the aunt. And lost one child (miscarriage) between Erin and Nolan so no matter what happened, hugs to you friend for enduring.

A happy update.....

I was told that I can go pick up my car on Thursday and DH said that he wants to look into trading it in for another car when we get it back because he's not sure about them not using all manufacturer parts? I don' t really understand it I just know that maybe we will get to go pick out the car but we are not going to make the same mistake with a brand new car, we are going to get one a year or 2 old that was used as a leaser or rental! And that's the same day that we get to go pick up my DMIL from the airport! She was supposed to stay until October, but she's been there since March so she's homesick I think! You know what that means though? I finally get Burmese food that I like since she's the only one that will make my favorites! YUMMM I am excited!

Disney..... we are having a movie night tomorrow- although we should save this for when DMIL gets home I'm doing it tomorrow! And reading over I didn't realize how much of our trip I had already paid off so I am really good with that and I have found more money to do things for that trip! And my DB won't be home (he's deployed), but we are going to stay with his kids and wife in NC one night! It will be the first time I see the kids since my DS passed away in 2007 and our kids are the same age, but they were only 2 and 3 then! So I am really happy with these things today! I hope that everyone has good things happen this week!

That is a happy update. I wish that it had to do with Lilly..but I will continue to pray that soon there will be an update that includes her.

yay on getting yummy food! Do tell though, what will it include? I dont think I have ever had Burmese food.

Tonight we watched a classic movie called the Swiss family Robinsons. I honeslty didn't know what to do food and activity wise because only 2 people gave ideas and to me those ideas went more with the Lilo and Stitch so I came up with my own plans!

I invited my DSIL, Khine- she says she looks horrible right now and refused to look at the camera!
movienights031.jpg

And we had my DBIL, Arkar and Damien- they are more like brothers because they are exactly 10 years apart (well minus about a month) and they argue and fight like it but he's a good kid when it comes to how he treats people and he's really smart we just wish that he would apply that smarts into his school work:rolleyes: but all in all Damien looks up to him and it's great!
movienights030.jpg

I also invited my grandfather and his wife and my FIL and older BIL, but none of them could make it.

Anyway, Damien watched the movie with DH and BIL while SIL and I finished up the cooking that I had already started, we checked in from time to time but SIL and her husband are borrowing it to watch tonight I have seen this movie many times. I made this a night about family and loving each other and spending time with each other so that's what we did! I made everything from scratch to eat. At first I was going to do Swiss food, but they aren't Swiss so I settled on a food I know that all of the family will like- lasagna and salad for my in laws I added a Burmese twist to the lasagna I put in spicy sausage slices!:
movienights028.jpg

For dessert we had some egg custard (a very popular dessert or breakfast in Hong Kong that my FIL used to make for my DH when he was younger)
movienights029.jpg

After we ate we played a TON of board games together and cards and Dh played playstation with Damien and BIL afterwards while SIL and I cleaned up. Then to really end the night with family Damien hopped into the car with his Auntie Khine and went home with her so that he could play legos with his uncle Carlos (my older BIL) in the morning! It was really great! If any of you are going to watch this movie I suggest inviting over family and making it a nice night with them! I see my SIL and BIL on a daily basis, but it was just nice to sit down and talk and play and think about everything that we have done together. Sometimes I forget where Damien gets his sarcastic humor from and sitting with the 2 of them I remember:laughing:!

:lmao:My SIL and I just convinced her to come back home to cook for us and you want me to send her out again?:rotfl2: I guess I could share.... I can't cook their food too well I am trying to learn, but my mother in law is out of NY for about 6 months a year so I only have 6 months to learn from her and SIL and FIL have no patience to teach me it! So maybe one day because she's not going to be around forever I know that and I would hate to rent a Burmese person just for the food!

I am very sorry that your grandma passed away! It is hard losing a loved one and when they think of you after they pass it just well makes you feel :goodvibeswarm that they thought of you when thinking of who deserves it! I will read when you write! My younger sister passed away from complications to the heart brought on by muscular dystrophy (something a lot of people in my family suffer from- thank God it's not me and Monk though!)

Yes I am so  when I go to a park or something and I see those moms and dads that just don't care and talking to my sister on the phone I can't take it sometimes so I hang up on her in anger and she just calls back in a week or so acting like nothing happened and talks to me about silly things that really should not be spoken out loud right now! Thanks for listening/reading!

Good advice, Tammie! And to reiterate, we are definitely hear to listen, Heather! And not repeat.

Thank you for being there for me too! It's not the repeating I have such a problem with it's the gossip part! I HATE bitter gossip!

:lmao:Men are pretty funny and clueless all at the same time! It makes me laugh and feel very smart! :rotfl2:

No I am sorry I didn't loose a child, I meant DS (darling sister) she doed from complications due to the MD! I am okay with it, it's hard, but she's better off now and I bet that she still watches her little monkey (she's the one that gave him that name and I shortened it to Monk)!

Thank you Ann and I really appreciate it because I know that you are going through a lot with Zoe too and to keep Lily in your prayers makes me feel very thankful!

The spelling is very off on these and I am spelling them the way that they sound, but my favorites are coswaytote (a noodle salad with dried shrimp- it's spicy and sour and you can add grilled tofu or something to it), Uno cosway (a coconut and chicken soup served over thick noodles [cosway means noodle] and you add this really airy bread to it that's really tough and lime and some hot chile oil-the taste is spicy and sweet at once), Lapet (a salad that you eat with rice it is made of pickled green tea leaves, nuts and seeds and you can add tomatoes and dried shrimp-the taste is sour and bitter though), and Mohinga (this is a fish soup that is a little salty and you eat it with very thin rice noodles, it has bamboo shoots in it too). My MIL also makes a Baryanni that her mom taught her to make but she adds a Burmese twist to it and it tastes lots better than the one at the Indian restaurant! Her secret is the spices and she adds raisins too to offset the spicy flavor! Much of the food is related to Thai since the boarder is right there, but Thai uses a lot more coconut in the cooking than they do and also Thai has either sweet or spicy where Burmese captures both at once in a lot of dishes! If any of you ever come to Long Island I will tell her and she'll cook you a feast- she LOVES to cook for people and likes it when people get interested in her food!

:banana:YAY YAY YAY!!!!! I woke up to happiness when I went with DH to his shop and the boss was there with his wife and while we were chatting Lew took K into the office and told him that it's been 8 years this year and they are going to give him a raise and a bonus--- how unexpected! So maybe we really can go back upstate for one last :cheer2: before school starts! And the car, I am thinking that we should wait until after we drive down to Disney so that we don't put that many miles on a new car! I mean our car is not that old (only 5 years) and it's still good so we should wait until after Christmas!

That food sounds soo good! I figure I was missing something. I wouldn't know where to find any of that near by though..and I am sure I could not make it as good as it sounds. :sad2:

And congrats on K's raise and bonus!!!:woohoo:

It is very good! You could always try, I keep telling them to invest on a little business but they don't listen! All I hear is "the american people can't handle the spicy in our cooking" so I let it go!

Thank you! I hope that nothing else comes up!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Yay for good things! I am hoping you can slip away upstate! We slipped away this weekend to the cabin...totally unexpected and unplanned, but we needed it. Certainly not our last time this year...but now with school probably only once a month until we close it up at Thanksgiving for the season. We would love to use it to go skiing this winter, but you never know how the snow will fall...

Yay for the happy update. I'm so sorry about the Lilly situation. At least she is going into a foster home and not having to stay with the fighting going on around her.

 for you!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: about a raise! That is always awesome news especially with the economy the way it is!

Oh I hope that we save up enough some day to buy land up there! I would love it and before they build it up... I like that I have no one around! We haven't even lived in this house a year and I want out... I can't wait to do something to it!

Yes I am glad, I have not heard that she's in the foster care yet, but she should be there soon! Yes raises are good, DH does very good work there and has been there for 8 years, plus he's done things over and beyond for his boss so his boss is very good to us-- like right now he ave us a truck to use instead of having to rent a car while our car is getting fixed!

I should be shacked and stoned..... I really forgot my son's birthday I realized this weekend when someone asked what we were going to do. Well not forgot I know he's getting older and I know we are having cake at my MIL's the night we leave for Disney, but other than that he has no party! His birthday is Dec. 8th but I know that we are going to be super busy from Thanksgiving through the new year and maybe a little before Thanksgiving because SIL is trying to buy a house! So I tried to book a place this weekend and no luck, most of them are booked and the ones that are not want over $500 for a 20 kid party (I am thinking about 12 school friends will RSVP [his class has 31 kids in it] and I know 9 kids that he has outside of school that he likes to play with daily that will come so I estimate 20). So I asked him what he really wants- he wants to go to the movies, what does he want to see? Cars 2 again! It's not going to be in the movies so I looked up when they are releasing it and well it's the first week in November! PERFECT! The local theater will let me rent a theater to play the movie in, but they don't have anywhere for cake or anything else and it's kinda far from my house to take kids too and from the theater. So this is my plan.....
Clear my back deck off ENTIRELY and use my grandfather's BIG flat screen HDTV! I will set up an area to look like a concession stand where the kids can "buy" food with the play money I give them and they can all bring blankets or sleeping bag and pillows to come and lay down and watch the movie. I am not sure about games because it will be in the evening... For food I am going to serve nachos, hotdogs, fries, pretzels, and corndogs from my kitchen through the window that is in the porch and decorate the window to look like a concession stand with a price list. I am going to rent a popcorn and cotton candy machine from a local person we know. For dessert i will go to the icecream depot (where the icecream man shops) and buy some ice cream pops-I think they have lightening McQueen even:confused3 and a cake! The goody bags are just going to be plastic popcorn buckets with a box of candy and a bag of microwave popcorn inside and maybe a few cars 2 things like pencils and a coloring book and crayons. It's going to be the weekend after Halloween so I don't want too much candy. Anything else that I should do? What about the games? Should I have games? The goody bags sound okay?

Sorry I've been MIA, real life has gotten in the way of my computer usage :rotfl:

What a great movie night, I have't seen Swiss Family Robinson in forever, I think I'll have to put it on our list and have some family over for it :)

:banana: Yay for DH's raise! So happy for you! I do agree about keeping your car until you've gone on your trip, that's alot of miles to put on a new car when you don't have to :thumbsup2

I love the idea you have for Damien's birthday! I think I may copy your idea and do something like that for one of our theme nights sometime!

Oh that sounds like such a cute idea! Your going to make all the other kid's moms jealous and have to come up with neat ideas too!

LOVE THE PARTY IDEA...Maybe Goo and I could hop on a plane and help celebrate!

Pinata? I honestly do not know that the draw is, but kids love them...I have seen Lightning Ones!

You could have balloon car races...found my balloon cars at toys r us for less than $2 each and would make a great party favor.

Don't worry about it, just very happy that you still read! And everything is fine by you guys!
Yeah I liked having the family over to just play board games and talk and such! We see them all of the time, but usually it's 1 at a time!

Take any ideas :lmao:I take so many of yours!:rotfl2: so it's good that I can give back!
I am hoping that his party comes out okay. I may have to add some games or something!

Oh that sounds like such a cute idea! Your going to make all the other kid's moms jealous and have to come up with neat ideas too!

:rotfl:Oh if only you knew some of the parties that go on here are like! This one lady did an Easter egg hunt party and hired people to be a bunny and we decorated eggs and found eggs and crafts- it was a lot! So mine is a little more downsized!

Oh anytime, everyone's invited! Happens in November!

Maybe I will do the pinata and the cars! I know that by himself my son will sit and watch the movie but with everyone there I am not sure! I looked up and some people had hollywood games, but Im' not sure that 6 and 7 year olds would understand that! And I am going to stop the movie 1/2 way through for cake and ice cream bars. So mabye.... I don't know I'm a planner and I have a few weeks for this so it's good- and I did it early so that we still have those weeks to prep for DISNEY!!!!

Cute cute party idea! My youngest DS's birthday is Dec. 3rd!! He will be our last birthday to take place prior to our trip! :goodvibes

Hey, I won't be able to be on again until Sunday, we have SO MUCH to do to prep for the hurricane (take down tree branches and put away toys and trash cans, somehow fit DH truck into the garage-no we still don't have the car back, and things like that, plus grocery shop)! I should be back on again Sunday night though given we don't loose power! Have a good weekend everyone! And good luck on the games:goodvibes

A quick update-----

My MIL never got home, she's stranded in Denver, Colorado until my little SIL can go pick her up (SIL lives in American Falls, ID). She's not sure she wants my sister in law to drive that far with the baby though and she's not sure when she can come back all of our airports have been closed since yesterday afternoon I think! They placed a mandatory evacuation on my area as of 8 am this morning (because I live about 3 blocks from the Atlantic) and as of 8:30 am all roads leading to my house have been roadblocked!!!! the firetrucks and ambulances have been going up and down the blocks reminding everyone of the evacuation. thank goodness my father in law came this morning with my SIL's husband and my little BIL (at 5 am:scared1:) to help us pick up things in our yard and surrounding neighbors and either tie the stuff down or put it away. During that time I had been running in and out of the house trying to keep Monk busy and less scared so we had the movie "night" (I will post pictures later). They just left- you can leave, but you can't come here. We tied lunch and breakfast into the movie. We had to get Damien out of here because he was so scared with the loud speakers and sirens blaring through the roads from the ambulances, police cars and firetrucks... it's still crazy, but we are trying to get last minute things that we should have done already:mad: MAYBE DH WILL TAKE IT MORE SERIOUS NEXT TIME:headache:. I am hoping to be safe at my grandfathers with Damien later on tonight. Damien's staying at my in laws (in the middle of the island) until we go pick him up later! I know that some of my neighbors are staying but I don't think I am as adventurousness plus if something happens to Damien I want to be able to do anything I can to prevent it and I can't do that if I'm not there with him (although I know that all of the people at that house love him enough to do for him anything they can)! It doesn't matter though where we go on the island it looks like we are going to be hit with the eye of the storm it's just that on the shores (especially the south shore where I live) they are worried about the water surges! I can see that there are really big waves and my neighbor was jokingly saying let's break out the margaritas and go surfing:rotfl:! Please keep praying and thank you all so much I feel very blessed, who knew you could find such good friends through Disney!

OH I heard from my mom in NC she was moved to a hospital before it all started because she needs electric for her oxygen machine. And my SIL (my older brother's wife) in NC lives on base and the army moved all of them to safety already- how nice that they are taking care of the families of the guys that are deployed right now:goodvibes!
