I'm looking at mapquest at the roads around Disneyworld just to see where we will be driving. I think I'm running out of things to research for this trip!

Coming down according to mapquest we exit 1-75 to SR-429 then take exit 19 and Winter Garden Vineland. On the disney website it says to stay on SR-429 and take exit 8. Is exit 8 the better way to go?

Also, I was taking a look at the driving directions on here for getting from the Fort to Winter-SummerLand minigolf, but that page is blank. Any directions you can give me to I can see the route on a map?

Exit 8 is definitely better. You are right at the gate to Disney property near the Coronado springs resort. The mini-golf is next to Blizzard Beach on the road to the Animal Kingdom.

We followed GPS for our most recent trip. It took us down Winter Garden Vineland and we had no idea where it was taking us. We entered through the back construction area entrance for Disney.
No pretty Disney arch for us:(

It was probably shorter since FW is at the top of Disney property and Western Way is closer to the bottom. We will take the longer more scenic Western Way route from now on:)

This actually sounds good. We're doing a surprise trip and would like the destination to be a surprise for as long as possible. But, is the back construction area entrance an actually entrance or would Disney rather we enter from the front?

It was very odd driving through the back area. There were a few purple Disney signs to direct you so it wasn't restricted or anything.

Here's the one pic I have of our ride through that area.

Ditto the 429 to exit 8.

This comes in to a T-intersection by Disney's Coronado Springs. Turn left to head up to the Fort.

If you were to turn right, Blizzard Beach and the Winter Summerland putt putt will be on the left in about a half mile on the way to the All Star resorts.

PS - I took that route along Winter Garden Vineland road on the way home once and it's not as convenient. It does come up to 429 just short of the Turnpike but as others said it was under construction at the time, has a couple stoplights, and is/was 2 lanes in places.

Thanks for the tips! :thumbsup2

So now I'm looking at a map of the area. If we take exit 8 off the 429 is this the route we'd take?

Exit 8 to Western Way
to World Drive
to Vista Blvd
to Fort Wilderness Trl

Almost. You don't have Buena Vista Drive.

Bear right off exit 8 on Hwy 429. Once on the ramp, the ramp will split to a left-right (east-west) fork. Take the left fork to head to WDW. It will cloverleaf around onto Western Way.

Western Way comes to a T-intersection with Coronado Spring on your left at the corner. Turn left onto Buena Vista Drive.

It's a short run up Buena Vista Drive to World Drive. Turn left onto it.

Go through the MK Parking Booth on the right hand side and take a right onto Vista Blvd. (It comes up pretty quick).

Turn left onto the Fort entrance road at the FW sign which is Fort Wilderness Trail.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
