Driving Down from NC-LoveBug Car Protectant

We will be leaving for WDW May 16th, driving down from NC in our brand new Highlander. After hearing about the current Love Bug season, Im a little worried about protecting my car from these darn bugs. From what Ive been reading, they really can ruin the paint on your car. Ive done some research and found a company that sells Love Bug Spray for your car, and supposedly it sprays a clear protectant on your car so when washing off the bugs, it will not ruin your paint. Has anyone tried it? Or can anyone please give me some tips for protecting my car against these bugs?

an amateur racer trick is to cover all the front facing stuff with blue painters tape ... not the grill or lights obviously, but the painted parts. Protects from rock hits ... works for luv bugs. Just peel everything off . . . . but don't leave it on so long that it bakes to the car.

Some try just spraying down with PAM so they won't stick.

Before you leave make sure that you have some quality wax on it. make sure you wash the vehicle when you get there. if you want to clay/strip the wax and reapply when you are there, that would work to.

The damage is not from the bugs impact, but from the juices. a good wax coat, and quick cleaning and not letting them bake in the sun on your paint job is all you should need
