I'm curious about a possible shortcut to WDW from 192 (Irlo Bronson).

If you're heading east on 192 from 27 you'll pass Orange Lake Country Club.

Just past OLCC you come to Black Lake Road due south of Animal Kingdom Lodge. (See green arrow)

There looks to be a road that connects Black Lake Road to Osceola Parkway.

OR

You can continue east on 192 to Sherberth Rd and go north to Osceola Parkway.

Does anybody know if you can get to WDW property via either of these routes? If so, it seems like a good way to avoid traffic on 192 to World Drive.

Don't know about the other way, but you can take Sherberth Road from 192 to the Osceola Parkway. It comes out at the very end of the Osceola by the Animal Kingdom. Turn right at the light and follow the Disney signs to your destination.

Have fun. :goodvibes

Ok don't laugh at me. LOL I don't know street names (except Sherberth Rd.) since I'm not a driver, but I do know landmarks. If you're coming down 192 from 27 you'll see a Chik-Fil-A on the other side of the road. Right behind Chik-Fil-A there's a road. That road runs parallel with 192, if you take that road it intersects with Sherberth Rd. down past McDonalds (I think it's by a Perkins, but I can't remember that for certain, I know it's by McDonalds). It cuts a few lights out from 192, we used that road a lot to avoid the traffic and lights on 192 when heading to 27.

Not sure if that's the road you're talking about, but thought I'd throw that out there.

Boy, think I've got a thing for fast food? LOL

Nice map! I never could figure out how to use images of Google Earth. Anyway, I tried to locate that exact route you have highlighted when I was at the AKL in January. I never could locate it, and I therefore came to the conclusion that it was a private service entrance or perhaps a dirt road. As others have said, Sherberth Road is a cut through that appeared deserted every time I was on it, which was very often. It's a dark, winding road, so take it easy.

Let me know if you find the route you marked.

Hotty Toddy!!!! ;)

ORIGINALLY POSTED ON THE TRANSPORTATION BOARD BY CLKELLEY. THIS NEW ENTRANCE WILL PROBABLY BE OPEN IN LATE MARCH OR APRIL. NEW ROAD IS SR 429 WHICH IS NOW OPEN FROM THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE TO 192, BUT THE DISNEY WORLD ENTRANCE IS NOT OPEN YET. COMING DOWN THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE, DO NOT EXIT AT US 27 AT CLERMONT, KEEP GOING ON THE TURNPIKE. YOU WILL PASS A TOLL BOOTH WITH A 2.50 TOLL, THEN THE 429 S EXIT WILL COME UP SHORTLY. UNTIL THE NEW ENTRANCE OPENS YOU WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO 192 WHICH COMES OUT NEAR THE PUBLIX. THERE ARE 2 $1.00 TOLL BOOTHS. NEW ROUTE CUTS ABOUT 10 MILES VS THE US 27 ROUTE. WHEN THE WESTERN WAY ENTRANCE OPENS YOU WILL NOT NEED TO GO ALL THE WAY TO 192. NEW ENTRANCE IS ABOUT 3 MILES NORTH OF 192. NEW SIGNS WILL SAY DISNEY WORLD COMPLETE WITH A DISNEY ARCHWAY JUST LIKE THE ONE ON WORLD DRIVE. HOPE THE NEW ENTRANCE IS OPEN FOR OUR MAY TRIP. ANOTHER GOOD ARTICLE IS ON THE TRANSPORTATION BOARD BY dcg0317.

Thanks, all.

Next visit I'll try both routes I marked on the map. I just want to see if it shaves a few minutes off the drive time. Traffic on 192 down by the World Drive interchange can get pretty heavy. I'd like to avoid as much of it as possible.

That brings up another point. Does anybody drive around WDW just to explore and learn your way around? I tried to last trip but DW doesn't enjoy exploring like I do. :confused3

If you are staying West of WDW then your directions are good. You turn left at the Black Lake light and take that to the end. At the stop sign turn left onto Sherberth road. At the light make right to go to theme parks.
