Hi everyone! Does anyone have any short-cut/access road/tips for driving around the 'world'?? Getting around, going from one park to another, etc.?

We've never had a car at WDW... forgive me

We always rent a car at WDW and love it. WDW is very easy to drive around with signs everywhere to get you to where you want to go.

Just follow the signs and you'll have no problems.

If you do stay onsite use the buses to get to Magic Kingdom. Grab the Unofficial Guide, they have a few back way routes for the offsiters.

A few people say that the signage is not to great, but so long as you know where you are going and know the area a little you should be OK to get around.

Resort tip - If you are staying at a resort or planning on visiting one (to see or eat), make sure you know what "area" those resorts are in! The signage at Disney is great, however, if you are heading to say Old Key West and don't know that it is a Downtown Disney "area" resort, you might get lost. The signs from a distance usually just say park names, park area resorts, etc. When you get closer it will say specific resort names, but not usually when you are on the other side of the property (too much to fit on every sign!)
If you just grab a map from online or anywhere that shows the full property and where all the resorts/parks are located, you will be set.

I've never had a problem driving around - it's pretty easy. We drive everywhere, including MK. I'd rather have my own car when I leave MK so I can go wherever I want - taking the bus to avoid the TTC/monorail or ferry isn't worth the effort IMO.

If you are going to a Magic Kingdom resort (GF, Poly, CR, WL), be sure to stay to the FAR right at the parking toll booth because you have to take the road on the right side, not the multiple lanes on the left that go to the TTC parking lot.

The road signs all over WDW property are very easy to read, so you shouldn't have any problems as long as you follow them.

First it would help if we knew where you were staying and what order you were planning on visiting the parks. The worst park to get out of the main lot is Epcot to go to another park.At least to me.
Theres a few different ways to get from point a-b,and a direction would help.

We're staying at the Kissimmee Westgate for the first time. It's just south of AK.

As far as our TP's, we're going to be going to DTD when we first land at MCO, not going to any parks. Then we're just going to be hopping here and there for the next 6 days. The only resorts we're going to is AKL and the Swan for dinners. I think for the Swan day we're going to park at DHS in the morning and take the boat over in the evening.

Sorry about the delay. For some odd reason after I tried posting this, my computer looged me out and then deleted my entire post. That thrilled me to no end.

I have a pretty good idea on where youre staying. If I am not mistaken you are off of 192, near Sherberth Road.Theres a Mcdonalds on the North side of 192, at the intersection.Turn onto to Sherberth(Not sure which side you are staying on) and Sherberth will take you to Osceola Parkway.(osceola Parkway is usually fairly empty 99%of the time.)
At the intersection of Sherbeth and Osceola,if you turn left, that is the AKL.If you turn right and go over the bridge, and make a uturn, thats Animal Kingdom.
Assume all directions from the intersection of Osceola Parkway and Sherberth, facing the traffic light.

To go to MK/EPCOT, take Osceola Parkway to the first left. That is World Drive. Take World Drive north, EPCOT will be on the right about a mile or so down the road, and youll literraly will drive into the MK toll plaza after you pass EPCOT exit.

To go to DHS,Swan
Take Osceola Parkway(OP) to Victory Way.(ESPNWWS will be on the right).Turn Left onto Victory.Take Victory to Buena Vista Drive.Youll pass Pop then the back entrance for CBR.At the traffic light at BVD(youl be facing Reedy Creek FD Station 1)Turn left. The next traffic light is DHS on the left, and Boardwalk on the right. You can turn right for Swan,(It will be the last of the 5 resorts on the left) or go to the next intersection, and turn right(It will be the first on the right.Epcot resorts Blvd, is a half circle off of BVD)

To DTD.
Take Osceola Parkway to Victory.Turn left.
At the traffic light at the fire station, turn right.Take BVD under the overpass(536/EPCOT Center Drive) and youll pass Typhoon Lagoon, then DTD will be on the left.

From MK to EPCOT
Follow the exit road out of the parking lot.Take the first right after the overpass and that will take you up to the Epcot entrance.

From MK to DHS
Take follow the exit road out, then take the 3rd right on World Drive.DHS will be on the right.

From MK to Ak
Follow the exit road out, and take the 4th right onto OP.

From DHS to MK/EPCOT
Turn left at the traffic light onto BVD.Take the second right on to World Drive and head north.Epcot will be first on the right then continue on to MK.

From DHS to AK.(or back to Sherberth.)
Turn right at the light onto BVD.Make the first right on to Victory.Take Victory to OP.Turn right onto OP.Stay to the right on OP for AK. Stay to the left to go back to Sherbeth of AKL.

From Epcot to MK
Follow the signs to Fort Wilderness, and it will take you to the MK toll plaza.

From Epcot to DHS
Folow the signs to FW, and stay to the left on the bridge.Merge on to World Drive and take the 2nd exit on the right.

From Epcot to AK
Follow the signs to Fw, stay to the left on the bridge, and merge onto World Drive.
Take the 3rd exit on the right. For AKL get all the way to the left.

From DTD to MK/Epcot
Turn right out of anyy of the lots.Go to Bonnet Creek and turn right. Take the 2nd left onto Epcot Center Drive.Get all the way to the left.(Stay right for Epcot)After you pass the exit for Epcot get back to the right and its the 1st right.

From DTD to AK/AKL/Sherbeth
Take BVD to Victory.(Fire Station)Turn left. Take Victory all the way to Op and turn right. Then follow Op to the toll plaza.Stay to the left just before the parking lot and follow the signs for AKL.The traffic light is Sherberth.

From MCO to DTD.
Follow the signs to 528 west.Take 528 west to I4.Take I4 west to exit 67.Take exit 67 to get on to ECD and take the 1st exit on the right. At the light turn right and youll pass TL then DTD will be on the left.

A good GPS. It makes driving around WDW magical.

GPS...we found the signs to be really bad

Also, don't forget to download the (free) POI's from Mousesavers.com
All excellent comments.

No problem.Having worked there for 7 years, and haveing a ap helps. I use Sherberth road as 1 of the 2 ways I come onto property from where I live.If Im not mistaken, they are almost across the street from it. I cant see a good reason to drive 2-3 miles down the road, then add another 2-3 miles to a trip.Especially since they are right there.
