Driving around Chicago ?? Please Help

I have a few questions? We are driving Thursday from Valparaiso, IN to a park and ride on West 47th near Midway. In your oopinion what is the best directions to drive there? Also we have to be there at 5:30 a.m. What time do we need to leave home? I know I hear on our local radio all the time about the traffic delays but will there be that much traffic that early? Thanks so much for your help.

Hey! I'm from Valpo too! Congrats on your 20th Anniversary and your 1st WDW trip! Have a GREAT time! I would plan on leaving by 3 or 3:30 at the latest. You could probably get there in an hour and a half with little or no traffic, but you never know! You could always stop for a cup of coffee if you're early! Anyway, for your next WDW vacation, you might want to consider flying out of Indy! We stopped flying out of Midway & O'Hare years ago, and just love Indy. The drive is so easy and you can usually find great deals. I just got another Southwest 'Ding' sale today for $34 each way from Indy to Orlando! I'm dying to book a flight, but we're going for Christmas so I'll have to be good and wait until the sales are out for Dec.! ugh! Anyway, good luck and have an excellent time!!!

I would take the skyway to North Dan Ryan Expressway. Then get on South 55 to Springfield. Get off at Cicero. Turn Left (south). 47th St. is 2nd light (I believe). There are a couple Park & Rides on 47th so look for the name of your lot.

This is good and at that time in the morning, traffic shouldn't be an issue. If you're using Midway Park & Fly you'd turn right (West) when you reach 47th Street. It's maybe 1/2 mile on the right side of the street. big sign so it'd be hard to miss.

Just wanted to say that it will probably say St. Louis not Springfield. Am I correct in saying that? I know it is not Springfield. Just want to clarify that. I would probably leave by 3am, I'm an anal with time! Better early than late! HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!

I think it does say St. Louis (either way-- you want 55 south-- although if you went north, you'd be in the lake )
