I was sitting in traffic today and a funeral procession drove past. At different points of the procession line, I saw 3 cars cut into their line and break up the procession. :sad2: Honestly, can't people show enough respect to wait a couple of extra minutes for the funeral families to stay together?

Wow, I was taught in driver's ed that's a HUGE no-no. Unless the procession wasn't well marked (cars are supposed to have flags or signs or something) then there is no excuse for that!

Oh, this really gets my goat. I think it's totally disrespectful to insert yourself into a funeral procession.

I also think it's disrespectful to pass a funeral procession. Meaning, if I am travelling on the opposite side of the road going in a different direction, I will still pull over and stop my car until the procession has gone by me.

The cars were well marked and it was obvious that they were all in a funeral procession. In fact, it was on a busy road (the kind with a few traffic lights in a row) and the hearse leading the procession gave a quick horn honk at every light. Those who cut off the line had to have realized that they were jumping smack in the middle of a funeral procession. :furious:

Because, sadly, there are people who don't know a darn thing about showing respect.

That is sad.

What's even worse is having to drive on the beltway in a funeral procession. :headache: :sad2:

I remember when I first moved to GA I didn't know anything about funeral processions. Living in NYC, I took the bus and train everywhere, so I've never seen one. I was on the highway one day and got in the right lane to exit and it wasn't until after the fact when I saw the hearse in the front of the line that I realized I broke the procession line. After that, I make sure I pull over.

I hate people who make WIDE Turns in a car:rotfl: They think they are driving a tractor trailer

I also hate when people leave a car length between them in turning lanes when they are at a red light. They are the ones that cause traffic jams

:car:

My parents were visiting my grandmothers grave years ago & there was a funeral procession coming in.

They had to stop the funeral because several of the cars hit each other when stopping-- the police were called and all. :sad2: My parents couldn't believe how out of hand everyone got.

The creepers, those people that stop about 3 car lengths from the car in front of them at a light and creep up inch by inch the whole time. I think that is one of the most annoying things ever!

That was always the custom where I came from. It still is in many places for most people. Others are in such a hurry that they can't even stop to show 30 seconds of respect. Believe me, I spend a lot of time in the front seat of hearses (It's not as creepy as it sounds; I'm a minister.) and I've seen a lot of really rude people.

I agree. I used to pull over as well, until I moved to VA and the first few times I tried to stop I almost got rear ended. It has been 14 years and it still seems disrespectful to me. But I have to keep my family safe.

You can see a hearse with flashing strobe lights and flags driving very slowly coming for a good while before it gets to you. That gives anyone plenty of time to slow down and stop safely. It's no different than if you have to stop for an emergency vehicle or to simply make a turn.
