Just trying to decide if we should drive to the parks each day or use the Disney buses. We're staying at SSR. The bus situation has been crazy sometimes after Fantasmic & Illuminations when everyone is leaving thhe park at the same time. We've never stayed at SSr before so I don't know if those buses are like that, but All Star and POFQ were both a pretty long wait. When you drive though, is the parking lot crazy to get out of? Which way will I have the easier time of getting back to our room. TIA

Hi Tara,

You'll find a split on this board of people who prefer to drive and people who prefer WDW transportation. But one thing I think we all agree on is that it is much easier to take WDW transportation to the MK. It allows you to skip the TTC and go right to the gate area.

Have fun!

Never try to leave any park right at closing. If you follow this advice you will not have any problems using Disney transportation. After Wishes last June we just sat on a bench across from the castle as the throngs poured down Main Street. After 15-20 minutes we slowly walked to the exits. When we got to the bus station everything was peaceful again. Personally I cannot imagine it being any easier to drive out of any park at closing. You will be competing with hundreds, maybe thousands of others trying to do the same. Take your time at park closing and you will be fine. No need to race.....you are on vacation!

Wait till everyone leaves, visit some shops and take your time. We never drive and always use Disney transportation and its either sit and wait for a bus or sit in your car and wait. Taking your time exiting a park, watching all the people rush to the exits or just leave earlier than everyone else solves the problem.

We've done it both ways but certainly prefer to leave all the driving to Disney! Since we usually stay at OKW (DVC members) I have noticed that (generally) the lines waiting for DVC resort bus service from the parks are significantly less crowded than, say, the value resort lines (size of the resort, of course, being a factor!) Now, the DVC buses might not run as frequently as values so you still may wait, but it is a little less stressful, in my opinion.
