Drive time, traffic question, advice needed

Looking for some advice from experienced US > Disneyland commuters.

The day before we go to Disneyland we will be staying near US and spending a day the US parks before heading over to DLH. I have outlined our tentative plan below.

Tuesday March 27th
Check out of hotel at 9:15am, walk over to Universal Studios Hollywood
Leave Universal Studios around 6pm, drive 1.5 hours to Disneyland Hotel.
Check into Disneyland Hotel around 8pm.
Dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen

My questions
1 - What will traffic be like and is 1.5 hours enough time allowed for commuting from US > DLH?
2 - Are there any disadvantages to checking into DLH so late?
3 - Planning to have Dinner at Goofy's Kitchen that same night, any disadvantages to having dinner so late? Will we miss characters?

Any advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I would allot extra half hour to 45 minutes to get to Disneyland, just in case of traffic.

I wouldn't plan dinner on a night you are worried about dealing with traffic. Plus after all day at US you may just want to grab something quick and get settled in your room.

It may be best to grab something at USH or nearby. Let some of the traffic clear up before driving to Anaheim.

All very sound advice. Thank you very much. I have to agree it would make sense to not plan for a char dinner and to pick up something nearby or along the way. Plus that'll save a bit of $$.
