drive thru pharmacy

Can you get over the counter meds from the drive thru or only prescriptions? Thanks

I 'think' it's just for presciptions called in.

My neighborhood CVS got me ANYTHING from the drive thru! I even got cat food once when my son was small and I didn't want to leave the car.

It began when I filled a prescription. I mentioned that I hated to have to come inside for some other stuff. The pharmacist asked me what did I need... I told her and she got an associate go shop for me.

Since then I've done it about 6 times, no more, and haven't done it since my son was out of the car seat. They were new in Atlanta then and I'm willing to bet that has stopped!

At our Walgreen's they will only do 'scrips. I don't think they want to have their pharmacists wandering the store looking for misc. items.

That said, Robin you got catfood??????? Did it fit in the little slide-out drawer thing? If I could get stuff like that I would never get out of the car

Any Floridians confirm they still have the drive-thru beer barns?
I always thought that was kinda strange, yet very convenient

Around here, I believe you can only get prescriptions.

Robinrs, that was a very nice of the CVS to do the extras for you. WOW.....if I only could find a drive thru to get those gallons of milk we always need it would be awesome.

Ours is prescription only. Maybe a small family owned place would be diff, but it would be a trek for them to leave the pharamacy area and track down other stuff... Plus, theres usually quite a line at ours =)

We have beer barns here, too. I think they're nifty =)

Well my local Eckerd is prescriptions only. I had to take all 3 kids out of the car and into the stroller to get motrin. I was annoyed and was almost begging the pharmacist but they wouldnt budge oh well.

It was actually a large window like at the banks. She was able to pass a bag full of stuff through. Man, I would just love to pass through that place again to see if they're still doing it. I can only imagine it can be misused a LOT.

At our Eckerds, I believe you can purchase other items through the drive-thru along w/ you prescription, but I think you do need to be purchasing a presciption for them to do this (at least that's the way I understand the sign they have posted).

I work in a retail pharmacy and I am currently a pharmacy school student. I don't in any way mean to offend anyone with this post. The point is it is very inconveinent for the pharmacist to have to hunt down things in a store for someone in the drive thru. First of all the drive through is for quick pickup. You guys don't understand how stressful a pharmacy can be. For example, you have 50 scripts to fill, you have your phone ringing off the hook, you have 4 scripts that the insurance has declined so you have to call the insurance companies. You have 10 people in line and you have someone screaming at you saying " what the h--- do you mean my insurance didn't go through." It can be stressful, but don't get me wrong I love the interaction with people I can't wait to finish school. I just wanted to let you know how things are on the other side of the counter. I am just saying it isn't really considerate for someone to ask for a gallon of milk in the drive thru. I have seen people actually come through the drive thru and just order something like milk.

Ours will get other stuff, but I'd only ask them to do it if there wasn't anyone else waiting. I haven't ever asked them to get anything else, but I would if I had a sick baby in the car and needed Tylenol for him along with antibiotics or something like that.
