Drive or take the monorail to Chef Mickey's?

We are staying at the Beach Club and we will have a rental car. We will be in MK on 12/8 all day and then we have an 8:30pm dining reservation at Chef Mickey's (I know it's late but the only time we could get!) MK closes at 7pm this night.

Would you drive to CM or take the monorail?

That's a tough call. Normally I'd say take the monorail, but you're looking at leaving Chef Mickey's around 10:00 with little ones. I think I'd want the car nearby, so I'll vote for driving.

One thing to remember, and I'm trying to picture this in my head so I could be wrong: if you're driving from MK to the Contemporary, you're going to have to leave the MK. After you pass the Car Care Center (which will be on your right), there is a left turnaround heading you back towards MK. This turnaround is just before the parking plaza (as you see it, its actually just after the cars go thru it). I don't think there's enough room for you to shoot all the way across to get to the resort roads. I think there's another turnaround beyond that which will have you go thru the parking plaza...thats the one you'll want.

My guess is this is a party night which means you can still go back to MK and get a bus after dinner.

If you drive, you will need to monorail back to the TTC to get your car.

You could drive to the TTC in the morning, leave MK around 7pm and then drive to the CR. You can park there for 3 hours with your dinner ressie and get your car after dinner.

Personally, I would just take the bus to MK in the morning, walk or monorail to the CR for dinner and then walk to MK to get the bus back to the Beach Club.

You CAN NOT cut across to World Drive using the turn around before the toll booths as the PP hinted at, you need to go to the turn around after the toll booths and come back through the toll booths to get to the CR (stay right if you decide to do this)

That is a MVMCP night...I'll be there...so the buse will be up and running until long after you will need one. The park won't close until midnight, so buses will run for an hour or two after that, until the last guest has left the park.
Just have your dinner at CM's and then walk back over to MK and hop on the BC bus there.

Thanks everyone! I knew you all would have the answers!!

The only other thing that might happen would be that we would go to MK in the morning and then go back to the hotel later in the afternoon for a break. If that happens, we could just go from the BC to CM by car. But knowing my older kids, they would want to stay ALL day at MK!!!
