So, I just posted this in the tips forum as well but then saw there was an actual forum for transportation...so thought I would post here too...

My DH and I are heading to the World this weekend. We are going to attempt to visit three parks during our stay there. Any advice on getting between the parks? We are planning to hit HS then AK, and end the day at MK with extra magic hours.

I know it will be pretty challenging especially for my DH's first visit but we are very limited on time and a bit on budget. I know most would say just pick one park but we have already made a very careful plan so just looking for help deciding on how to get around.

Would you drive or ride the bus? I know the parks will be packed because of the holiday and Star Wars Weekends. What would you do?:confused3

When we have a limited stay and trying to get in as many parks as possible we use a car to get around. The bus system can be a delight or a nightmare as indicated by the many postings on this forum.

I have actually been able to 'do' three parks in one day using the buses/boats/monorail. It is doable. But, you could face some longer than expected wait times.
You could....park at DHS...do that park. Then, take the bus to AK...spend a few hours there. Take the bus to the Contemporary from AK. Walk over to the MK from the CR...takes under 10 mins...pleasant walk. When you're done with MK that night, take a bus to BW...then walk back to DHS and get your car..takes about 15 mins and the walkway is very well lit and safe. I've walked it by myself, at 1:30am!!

Or, just drive to each park. The only issue will parking. By the time you get to AK, you will be in a distant spot. Same thing with MK. And you have to take the trams at both parks. And at MK, not only take the tram, but once you get off the tram, you have to take either the ferry or monorail over to MK, then reverse that at park closing.

Where are you staying??? That could make a difference as well.

I would drive!!

Its a busy holiday weekend and the parks will be crowded. Buses will be crowded.

In Feb we did an experiment. DH drove the car back to the resort and I took the bus. It took me 40 minutes to get to the resort after my DH got there. And we did not go during a busy time.

Thanks for the advice :)

We are staying at Coronado Springs...I am pretty sure we will drive to our first park, but was considering then taking disney transportation. I am a bit nervous I will have long waits for the transportation itself. I do have a AAA parking pass since we booked with them that might get us closer at each park...but I am not even sure if there will be openings later in the day.

Perhaps, we will plan to do your route, it may be a good chance to see more of the Disney area as well :)
