Drive or Fly with 2 little ones?

Looking for some help! My DH and I are heading down to WDW the Saturday after Thanksgiving with our 2 DS's, Michael almost 3, and Daniel 8 months. We were planning on driving - renting a minivan, and driving straight through the night from NY. We've done this trip before with Michael and it was hard but doable. Now with the 2 we're starting to question a little bit. I don't love to fly, but would if I had to. We're renting the minivan for $500, and then figured another $300 for gas/tolls. I can get airfare for around $650 for all of us.

Not sure however how it will be to fly. I would bring a carseat for Daniel, maybe Michael too. Would it be feasible to travel with 2 kids, 2 car seats, a stroller, suitcases, etc.? It just seems that although it will save us lots of time, we may have too much stuff for a plane. At least with the car, we have more space. Then, once there, would I rent a car (fares are at least $300 that week) or go in the shuttle?

What's everyone's advice?

Thanks a lot!

It just depends on what you think will work better for you & your family. I flew by myself with 2 little ones (almost 3 and 14 months), with 2 car seats, a double stroller and all the luggage they require. It wasn't particularly easy but I consider flying to be a bit easier than driving. We can get to Florida in 3 hours (+the hour or 2 we spend at the airport) rather than 20 hours on the road. I found a great trick to carrying 2 car seats and pushing a stroller. You can take the straps which come out on the back side and hang them over the stroller handle bars!

The longest driving trip we have taken with kids was 12 hours. I would rather spend 12 hours on an airplane than drive 12 hours LOL. I like the freedom a plane allows, if you need to use the potty then you can. You don't have to find a rest stop, hope no one has an accident then run to the potty. As a kid my parents drove my brother & I to Florida every year to visit relatives. I have never been fond of long drives.

When we did Disney we just paid a town car company to take us to Disney and then return us to the airport. We used the busses while we were there. I haven't ever rented a car while we were there so I can't say how different that is. I think a towncar is about $100?

Good luck making your decision!!!
