okay, so my family is driving down in august. :moped:
it's gonna be about 3 days there (from ontario, with a bunch of detours/pitstops.) Me & my sister have done the drive many times bfore, but this time my cousins & thier parents are joining us. (ages 14 & 10)

We're taking 2 seperate cars, and we have 2 portable DVD players, but I was just wondering if anyone had anything else to do in the car to keep entertained. Me & my sister have made a pact to be nice to each other for the whole way and to not fight at all, but our cousin (the 10 year old) can tend to be a bit of an annoyance when she is not being entertained or preoccupied with something. :rolleyes1

What do you guys usually do to keep entertained on the way to the World?

Put in a CD of Disney songs and sing to all you're favorites; Corny. . . but effective!

hah. thanks!
i think my sister has a disney playlist on her ipod! so that should come in handy.

and we bought little portable board games for my little cousin today, so hopefully that'll keep her entertained too :P

I look at people in the cars around mine and make up stories about them in my head. Don't know if a lot of other people do that lol.

I sleep. a lot. DVDs that you all like, music. you could get a few books to read. and LOTS of snacks.

and if you have a very annoying person riding with you, you'd be surprised what wonders a bag of rope and ducttape can do. ;)

well, ive driven down there once and i am again in august(the 12th till the 18th or 19th, i cant remember). last time, i packed a million things- cards, handheld video games, you name it! well i ended up watching movies the whole time. you will have like one and a half times longer than me, though. i just wanna say, dont worry about it you dont really have to pack all that much to get there!

I have a weird obsession with truck stops, but the little pamplets you get at them are usually quite funny. I got a bumper sticker of a dinosaur and a cardboard peach on a stick in georgia last time I went down. Bring a lot of magazines and some sharpies and draw on peoples faces, that never gets old. Hmmm, it's cliche, but bring a book. I really like The Lovely Bones and The Perks Of Being a Wallflower for books that don't get boring. umm, I like to sleep too. I always stay up all night before a road trip, then i can sleep for the first day. Is your cousin to old to fall for "The Quiet game?"

yeah i love collecting pamphlets for wierd tourist attractions.
you got some really cool stuff!! a cardboard peach on a stick! who doesn't want one of those!?

and i didnt even THINK of the quiet game! You miss, are a genius :rotfl:

sleep.
bring a note pad & scribble on it or what have you.
there's a game that you can play if you can actually see out the windows (if you're going to Disney, you might be stuffed to death in that car)

whenever you see a license plate that spells something, you hit the person next to you before they do. violent but it works.
& you can read the road signs xD

SLEEP X 100...

If you about it being 3 days...and you maybe get 10-12 hours of sleep a night...are you stopping in between? You MUST have to...

If you can get away with it...DON'T sleep at the hotels. Stay up all night entertaining yourself with books, television, w/e. Just DON'T go to sleep. Then that day you have 10-12 hours of sleep that you missed the night before that you can kill on the ride. Trust me...I stayed up all night for a trip to VA (12 hours-ish from MA) and I slept over 3/4 of it. Just make sure you have headphones to drone out everyone else and a pillow castle to be comfy!

Other than sleep...

What everyone else said. Movies, cards, handheld games, books...

It took us 24 hours to get to Florida from Mississauga.
Play the license plate game: Spell out a word or phrase (like hot dog) and spell them out by the license plates. 1 letter per license plate, and you have to do it in order but you can switch up the rules if you like, of course.

Someone mentioned fliers for tourist traps. I collect business cards. Every place that has one, I get it. I've got hundreds. It took my mom three or four days to figure out what I was doing our last trip. So maybe something like that for every restaurant you go to?

btw, I know that I'm weird. :teeth:
