Alcohol is no longer prohibited on the monorail, while it is not encouraged Cast Members will no longer prevent you from carrying your alcohol onto the monorail unless it is in a glass.

What is your source for this information? It does not sound plausible to to me.

Speaking as a person who drinks, and thinks a lot of rules and laws concerning alcohol are over the top, this is kind of disturbing. I would never even consider brining open alcohol on the monorail, for the simple fact I would not want to spill it on anyone. I don't even bring open sodas on there. Why would you need too? They don't let you bring it out of the gate at EPCOT, they don’t sell it at MK. So basically, you would be brining it either in cans from your room or in plastic cups from the monorail resorts. Is it that hard to finish a drink before you get on?

Or am I miss-interpreting what you meant. Did they used to prevent closed alcohol like a bottle of wine or liquor or a pack of beer, or do you really mean they will let you bring open alcohol on the monorail?

wait.......... hang on.......... so they close PI because they dont want the hassle of drunk people in a fairly safe contained supposedly child free area where they can make money from it whilst also delivering on their core business - entertainment.

yet they've decided drinking in a crowded, fairly unsafe, full of children environment is ok?

i give up! :confused3 :scared:

Previously CM's were told that people can finish their drink on the platform however they were not permitted to take any kind of open alcohol on the monorail.

Now under the new revised rules CM's are no longer allowed to stop people who may have open alcohol from boarding the monorail unless they are deemed to be drunk, violent etc etc.

Also throw in the fact that children as young as 7 can now ride alone on the monorail (not responsible for bad parenting) it could possibly make for a ugly combination under the wrong circumstances.

Another new addition is the restriction of the front cab. As we all know guests are not permitted to ride in the front cab however it has now been taken one step further. Guests are no longer permitted to take photos of inside the front cab or pose for pictures with the driver inside the cab even while the monorail is parked in a station.

Not sure how allowing/disallowing them from taking an open container on the monorail has anything to do with them being drunk already. It's too late then and is a separate issue.

I can take a drink on the monorail, or I can be drunk on the monorail, but I can't do both?

Whatever the concern was about having an open container was, it apparently is not a concern any more. I don't think it has to do with being drunk.

much ado about nothing. CM's have been famous for ignoring neusense rules (smoking, line cutting, etc.) as they lead to confrontation that the CM's nor Disney want. Will lead to nothing.

1) Let's not get too upset.
2) Guests still can't drink on the monorails.
3) Only monorail drivers can drink on monorails.

:)

perhaps they are thinking any spilled alcohol will sterilize the cabin. saving thim cleaning expenses.:rotfl2:

This is a big nothing in my book... probably just putting to paper (formally documenting) a practice that has been going on for some time now. It's far worse to be caught breaking your own rules than to have bad rules...

As far as drinking on the monorail, I can totally see it. You're staying at the Poly with another couple and their kids; A morning in the park and then head back there for an afternoon respite, hanging at the pool with the family and friends. The two families depart to go clean up in their respective rooms because you all have dinner reservations at the CG at 7:30. You're done cleaning up prior to everyone else so you go to the bar and grab an "adult" beverage with your counterpart in the other family (because he's done cleaning up early too). Before you know it, it's 7:15, you're not done with said beverage, but here comes the rest of the party clamoring for you to get with the program because you have to get on the monorail... What do you do? "Hey bartender - can you put this in a plastic cup?"

I have to wonder if they will change the policy for the boats going into MK as well.
