I know children under three can eat for free (off our plates). Do they get a drink for free or is that something we pay OOP?

I dont think they get a free drink. You would have to pay for a drink if you order one, just like if you ordered a kids meal, they would charge you for that, too.:)

This makes the buffets a really good deal for the under 3 crowd!

I think that, technically, you would need to pay for a drink for the child under 3.

That being said, when we were on the DDP last year we had one member of our group who was under 3. The servers always asked what he would like to drink and we always ordered him something, fully expecting to pay for it. Out of our 8 TS meals, 3 of which we buffet, we didn't pay for a single drink for him.

We never paid for our son's milk when we at TS last year. Most of the time they even brought him his own desert free of charge ;)

They always brought dd's drink free of charge. They also brought an extra plate so she could share with us, and at Garden Grill the server gave her her own kids meal and dessert - no charge. :goodvibes

We know another family who went last year and they were told (I think by hotel check-in at one of the all stars?) that if their 1yo had a plate in front of at any of the buffets they'd be charged so the whole time they had her eat off napkins. They were so misinformed...the servers are very generous with the little ones. At least all the ones we've been lucky to have.

Last year we didn't understand the whole under 3 eats for free so we ordered for our oldest at each meal. And we were charged - of course. I cannot remember if we were charged at buffets for her though.

carmiedog - I heard of this happening to someone else as well? Has anyone else had an issue with having a plate in front of their under 3 child at a buffet? I cannot imagine making her eat off the table (or napkin) the whole time!!! I guess to be safe I should ask each server?

Goodness! I can't imagine Disney making kids eat off napkins! That would be some really gross mac&cheese, and what if they wanted oatmeal, or waffles or cereal?:rotfl: Anyway, it's been a couple years since I had an under 3, but in many years of traveling to Disney, we've never had a problem. Kids are free at buffets, why would they care how many plates are on the table? As far as non-buffets, you pay for what you order. We were always given a drink for the under 3's at TS. (Not CS, of course)

Not a word was said to us with our son having a plate at the buffets! Could you see ice cream on a napkin? :rotfl:
