Drinking your water

When do you drink most of your water? I have been drinking 32oz first thing in the morning, another 16 - 20 oz at work (9am-12:00pm), and then the rest (another 8 oz) in the afternoon.
I am wondering if I should space it out more over the whole day. I started this so I wouldn't be up every half hour running to the bathroom during the night. Now I am thinking it might be better - losing weight wise - if I spread it out over the whole day.

Any thoughts?

I spread mine our during the day, but I try to only have 16ozs after dinner. I don't know whether it makes a difference when you drink it as long as you drink enough.

I usually drink a glass of water with my breakfast ... then another 8-9 while I'm at work, one more at dinner and one more before I go to bed :)

I shoot for 7-8 16 oz bottles of water a day. I drink as much as I can while I am at work just so I don't have to chug tons of it once I get home. On average I drink 4 bottles before leaving work in the afternoon and then get the rest in before bedtime. The first week or so I did wake up a couple of times during the night but after that I might wake up once a night but usually not. I think your body just has to get used to all of the water.

I have nothing to base this on, but in my mind I guessed that it was better to spread the water out over the day as opposed to drinking a lot at one time. Hope this helps you! Either way as long as you are drinking it - that's a good thing!!

I usually drink 16 oz in the morning at home before work. At work I drink a liter bottle of water. After work I have at least 2 16 oz glasses of water. At work I drink it room temperature, but at home I love a nice tall glass of ice water.

I put about 20 oz of water into my morning protein shake. I then have 2-3 cups of decafe coffee in the morning. Then 12 oz of decaf diet coke for lunch and about 16 oz of decaf diet coke for dinner. Then about 2-3 cups of decafe coffee after dinner, typically with about 4-6 oz of milk. So that's about 100 oz of hydration, before considering all the water in the fruits and vegetables I eat.

Not juice, not soda, not milk, etc. Hell, I could live on Diet Coke (I'd even brush my teeth with it if it came out of the faucet!) I love the stuff - but water is what cleans out your system and hydrates you.

I drink a diet coke in the morning and then space out my water during the course of the day. It is a challenge sometimes to finish it all! I believe you're mistaken. Water is indeed water, however water is water whether it is alone, in soda, juice, soup, or even inside fruit.

When health professionals talk about the optimum amount of water that a person should drink during the day for hydration. They mean actual water, not soda, coffee or any other liquid. Hope this helps.

I space it out. But I also consume a good 16 oz at night. (no, it doesn't keep me up, I just have terrible allergies and usually sleep with my mouth open, and wake up severely dried out, and drink the water.) One thing I use to remind myself to drink is when I need to use the bathroom. I have a big glass before I go. I have also found that I am drinking much less soda since I've started getting my water. Haven't seen that effect with wine or beer or coffee or tea, though. Speaking of coffee...

I start with a new bottle of poland spring 24 sport bottle. My goal is to drink 6 a day. So I refill it throughout the day and cross put a pen mark in each letter of spring so I dont lose count! I go to the gym about 6 so i make sure I have a least 4 by then and one after the gym then one right beofre bed. Its not a bad system. Im thinking I could add a bootle or two soon.

I'm still trying to get on track with drinking my water, diet coke and tea are what I always drink, bad habit!!! Hopefully tomorrow!

I drink 32 oz by 6:00am, after my morning jog when Im thirsty. Usually will have another 32 oz before lunch/after my morning walk. Then the final 16 oz I usually have in sips around 2:00-4:00pm. However, this scheduled gets adjusted when I have somewhere to be in the morning. ;)

A comprehensive review of all medical research indicates that that there is no support for that assertion. Besides, it doesn't make logical sense. Take 8 oz of water. It's "worth" 8 oz, right? Now drop a few pieces of cooked chicken in it. There's STILL 8 oz of water there.

Since the research reviews came out, showing that there was no research underlying what a lot of people were saying (and weren't THEY embarassed when it was shown that many of the first statements about "plain water" stemmed from bottled water manufacturers' promotional materials!), a lot of new research studies have been started. Hopefully they'll bear new information in the years to come.

Until then, drink water, or juice, or soda, or soup, or get your hydration any way you want. Avoid lots of sodium and lots of sugar and lots of caffeine, and you'll be fine.

Yes, bicker's citings are the latest truth on the water consumption front. However, for my purposes, (drinking straight water for the purpose of weight loss) helps in that I am not bombarding my palate with unnecessary, and usually nutritionally deficient junk. It helps the foods I do eat taste better and I am satisfied with better quality, better tasting, and better for me foods. :sunny:
