Drinking water in the parks

I have a big problem with bottled water, I think it's one of the biggest wastes of plastic...it just seems so unnecessary. Same with the excessive Starbucks cup. For the people that go to Starbucks every morning or carry water with them all day, it just seems so much easier (and WAY better for the environment, and cheaper too for that matter) to just bring your own cup.

I have a Nalgene bottle that I fill with water every morning and it holds enough to carry you over until lunch.

The water at WDW is pretty bad, but I usually just put up with it. Not a big deal.

We use the water from the water fountains to refill our water bottles, and then add some Crystal Light or Gatorade mix. It covers up the nasty taste and I don't have to listen to DH and DS complain that they are drinking water :rotfl2:

That's a really good idea. I'm going to do that next time for DS8.

I think the tap water in all of Orlando is bad. But not as bad in WDW as out of it. In the Orlando area, even the fountain soda is awful. In WDW, some of the fountain soda is bad, but most is passable. Or a little lemon in tap water makes it drinkable.

I won't drink water from most fountains. I also don't buy bottled H20 at the parks. I go to Costco or BJ's and get a case of Propel and freeze it the night before. By the time I need the water it's not frozen anymore and it's STILL cold! My 2 DD's will ONLY drink Propel anyway and it's better than too much juice or soda. Try freezeing it and taking it with you.

We brought the Brita fill and go water bottles and they worked great!! Since the water was sometimes pretty warm from the fountains I would just ask for a cup of ice from a counter service to pour in it. I bought mine on ebay.

Thanks for all the great ideas, everyone. I think I'll try to find some water filter bottles, Brita or otherwise. We won't have access to a car while we're there, so we can't bring our own bottled water. The Crystal Light idea would work for us, too.

Thanks,
AG

But I still drink it, doesn't taste bad to me just room/air temp. Then again I've drunk the water in all of the 22 countries I've visited and gotten horribly sick sometimes :confused3 . We froze bottles about 3/4 filled and took them to the park with Crystal Light packets. It was great but make sure you dilute the Crystal light correctly or your tongue will look like Gene Simmons's.

I have to agree the water fountain water in WDW is pretty bad tasting. I was lucky enough to be able to bring a case of water with me and we froze the water overnight, then brought the frozen bottles to the park, so we had cold water most of the day. One of the reasons, that as nice at the new Magical Express might be, I'll never give up my towncar service with grocery stop!

I also got ice water at counter service places a few times...I think it's great that Disney allows this, I know alot of places charge for ice water...only problem with this, the lines can be long, especially when it's hot.

We are planning to use our backpacks that have a camelbak hydration system in them (it holds up to two litres) and we will refill them each night from water that we will buy offsite b4 we get there. Then we can get soda or juice with meals, and not waste all our yummy food calories on sodas durin the day.....

It does taste horrible & to those of us who have sensitive systems, it can make you sick. I get sick from water at alot of places tho - my tummy just doesn't handle different flora & fauna very well.

We buy water & bring it with us. I also freeze partial bottles. When it's gone, I break down & buy Dasani in the Parks. Keeps me hydrated & doesn't make me sick.
