Drinking water in the parks

I am a water drinker. I cannot remember what I did last year, so I thought I'd ask. Are we allowed to bring a reusable water bottle (like a Klean Kanteen) into the parks? And if so, is there anywhere to refill it? I'd really rather not pay for bottled water at the parks, that will get rather costly.

I was going to start a thread on this topic. I, too am a water drinker and did it all wrong on my last trip and ended up dehydrated. I filled my Camelbak bottle every morning but it was so hot everyone drank out of it and it was gone by late morning, so yes, you can take a bottle in with you. I never knew where to refill it so we would have water with our meals and then buy a bottle here and there which adds up. I hate buying bottled water either to bring, or in the parks. I also hate filling up a water bottle in the bathroom. I did hear of some cold water fountains but don't know where they are:confused3 I think you can also refill bottles in the baby care station on Main Street.

You can get water from any counter service place in DLR. Just ask - you get it in a cup with ice, a lid and a straw. I also read recently on here that you can get hot water, too.

I did this our last 2 trips and it saved me. Plus, my kids drink out of a cup with a straw better than a water bottle.

You can bring in as much bottled water as you want, as well (and snacks). Officially it's a "no outside food or drink" policy, but unofficially, they don't care as long as it's not glass containers, or you aren't bringing in a hard sided rolling cooler.

We used our Camelbaks last trip, and found a great way to refill them and keep them COLD! The first aid station (near the Plaza Inn) has a water dispenser with ice cold water. It stayed cold in our packs for quite a while in August.

Hope this helps!

Do they let you go in and refill there? We have always had to refill bottles at the fountains or from our cup of water at meals.

We usually just fill up our water bottles at a fountain, but yes, you can just walk in to the first aid station and use the fountain.

:)

I usually bring a water bottle and just keep refilling it in the parks. It might not be the best tasting water, or the coldest, but it keeps me hydrated. :confused3

I go into the First Aid station for refills all the time. I can't stand regular tap water, but this fountain is filtered and refrigerated.

This is great news, thanks everyone! I usually add a Propel powder to my water, so the water doesn't have to be the best tasting water in the world, so long as its clean and safe to drink, I'm ok. Perhaps I'll have to get the kids some bottles too.

We get our free ice water from the food locations. I usually drink mine plain but DD9 adds a tube of Crystal lite. I have now also begun getting free hot water and bringing my own tea bags. I just can't pay $2.69 for hot tea. :confused3

DD9 usually carries her water in a bottle with a strap I made for her with an O Ring that slips over the neck. She takes that strap with her everywhere-school, softball, DLR, etc. Makes it really easy to locate her bottle! :rotfl2:

My sister got a water bottle carrier at DLR that was a clip with a ring to go over the bottle. The clip could be attatched to your belt loop. I thought that looked better than over the shoulder or around the neck. Don't know if she has tried it yet. DH is my water bottle carrier! :rotfl:

Several of the CS places in Disneyland including French Quarter, Tommorowland Terrace and Rancho, all have the type of water fountains that restaurants use to fill water pitchers. The water isnt the coldest but tastes fine to me, they are also easier to fill this way!!

I bring my reusable bottle in all the time and fill it at TS restaurants and these fountains on all my trips and it is such a money saver, space saver and just better enviromentally then buying and dealing with regular water bottles!!!

You can refill them at any water fountain, but the water is gross as I discovered on my last trip. My plan this trip is to have everyone bring two bottles and store one in the locker with the coats. ;)

Don't ever ever ever refill at a fountain. Take it to CS.

No offense, but Southern CA has some pretty disgusting tap water (or maybe I'm just way to used too our clean glacial Cascade water :goodvibes ).

I have bought a camelback and it comes in handy at Disneyland, I also bring some water in the lockers along with my coat. The bottled water comes in handy for cooling off and hte camelback is great for drinking.

So does every CS have hot water? Would I need to order something else? I never knew you could ask for it. This is awesome because I can bring my own tea bags for the morning.

I'm probably weird, but I actually really like the fountain water at most of the DL water fountains. I would say though that I do have some favorites that I find are usually cooler than others, they include:

* Outside the Alice in wonderland bathroom in DL
* The Sleeping beauty fountain behind the castle in DL
* The water fountains in between the shacks across from Soarin' in DCA

I do also usually ask for ice when needed and never have a problem.

:thumbsup2

I don't know if every CS has hot water but any that serve hot tea do. You can just ask for hot water, no purchase neccessary. :goodvibes You don't need to order anything. I've done it now at the Bakery on Main Street as well as River Belle Terrace (that's where I was first told about it by a CM.)
