DH and I are going to a "Stock the Bar" party tomorrow night for a couple of our friends who are getting married in August. DH wants to make a CD for them of drinking songs and/or songs that mention drinking. We've started making a list and would love to hear any suggestions! Thanks!

The first thought I had was the Chumbawamba song Tubthumping...that song can really get stuck in your head.

He drinks a whiskey drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink

My favorite Irish drinking song is "Rattlin Bog", and if you dont mind country songs, you can add garth brooks's "American Honky Tonk Bar Association" or "Friends in Low Places"

All I can think of is "The Beer Barrel Polka" and "The Days of Wine and Roses"...sorry.

OMG! I can't believe this! I just made a CD of drinking music!

if you dont mind country songs, you can add garth brooks's "American Honky Tonk Bar Association" or "Friends in Low Places"

I used both of those. Others included "Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink", "Romeo", "Where Am I Gonna Live","I Gotta Get Drunk", "Ya'll Come Back Saloon", "Don't Rock The Jukebox", "Take This Job and Shove It" and "You Don't Even Call Me By My Name"

The last 2 don't really have a reference to drinking, but, nevertheless are great fun.

How about:

Drunken sailor

What shall we do with the drunken sailor,
what shall we do with the drunken sailor,
what shall we do with the drunken sailor,
early in the morning?
Hooray and up she rises,
hooray and up she rises,
hooray and up she rises,
early in the morning.
Put him in the longboat till he's sober.
Put him in the longboat till he's sober.
Put him in the longboat till he's sober.
early in the morning?
Hooray...

Pull out the plug and wet him all over...

Put him in the bilge and make him drink it...

Put him in the scuppers with a hose-pipe on him...

Heave him by the leg in a running bowline...

Put him in the scrubbers with the hosepipe on him...

Shave his legs with a rusty razor...

Keel haul him until hes sober...

Put him in a bed with the captains daughter...

Margaritaville -- Jimmy Buffet
Tequila Sunrise -- Eagles
No No song -- Ringo Star

One of my favorites.........Ten Rounds of Jose Cuervo by Tracy Byrd :teeth:

I can't believe Saffron didn't mention "Why Don't We Get Drunk" by Jimmy Buffet. Also," 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall".

The Maine Stein Song

Words by: Lincoln Colcord
Music by: E.A. Fenstad
Arranged by: Rudy Vallee
original version

Fill the steins to dear old Maine.
Shout till the rafters ring!
Stand and drink a toast once again!
Let every loyal Maine man sing.
Drink to all the happy hours,
Drink to the careless days.
Drink to Maine, our Alma Mater,
The college of our hearts always.

To the trees, to the sky,
To the Spring in its glorious happiness;
To the youth, to the fire,
To the life that is moving and calling us!
To the Gods, to the Fates,
To the rulers of men and their destinies;
To the lips, to the eyes,
To the girls who will love us some day.

Oh, fill the steins to dear old Maine.
Shout till the rafters ring!
Stand and drink a toast once again!
Let every loyal Maine man sing.
Then drink to all the happy hours,
Drink to the careless days.
Drink to Maine, our Alma Mater,
The college of our hearts always.

Don't forget 'escape/ the pina colada song' by ruppert holmes.

Sippin on pina coladas and gettin caught in the rain

It's not a "drinking" song but it always gets a party going........
Paradise by the Dashboard Lights by Meatloaf(am I showing my age?LOL)
Kim

Haha Micca! I didn't forget it! I just wasn't going to be the one to suggest it. :o LOL! But I did forget Boat Drinks. :o Sorry Debster, didn't mean to let you down! But YOU BOTH forgot:

Grapefruit, Juicyfruit by ol' Bubba!!!!!!!!!! Tsk, tsk!

I can not believe I forgot this song! This is one of my all time favorite songs! It's really cute! In a sad sort of way, I guess. :p

I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You by Hootie and the Blowfish

Well I hope that I don't fall in love with you.
'Cause falling in love just makes me blue.
Well the music plays and you display your heart for me to see,
I had a beer and now I hear you calling out for me.
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

Well the room is crowded, people everywhere
And I wonder should I offer you a chair?
Well if you sit down with this old clown,
Take that frown and break it, before the evening's gone away,
I think that we could make it,
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

Well the night does funny things inside a man.
These old tomcat feelings you don't understand,
Well I turn around to look at you; you light a cigarette,
I wish I had the guts to bum one, but we've never met.
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you.

I can see that you are lonesome just like me,
And it being late, You'd like some some company.
Well I turn around to look at you, and you look back at me,
The guy you're with has up and split the chair next to you's free.
And I hope that you don't fall in love with me.

Now it's closing time, the music's fading out.
Last call for drinks, I'll have another stout.
Well I turn around to look at you; you're nowhere to be found,
I search the place for your lost face,
Guess I'll have another round.
And I think that I just fell in love with you. :teeth: LOL!

You should feel right at home!

Oh my word, I cant believe I forgot Margaritaville!!!

I just remembered another Garth Brooks song (he sure does have a lot of drinking songs!) Im not sure what its called, but the chorus is
Bring me two pina coladas,
One for each hand,
We'll set sail with Captain Morgan
And Never leave dry land

I wonder if you can find the Adventurer's Club beer song! Ya know..
Do- with which to buyy a beer,
Ra- The guy I buy beer from..
Mi- The guy I buy beer for...
Fa- The distance to the store...
So- I guess I'll have a beer..
La- La la la la la la!
Ti- No thanks I'll have a beer!
That will bring us back to do do do do!

Then of corse you have "There's a tear in my beer", "Beer Barrel Polka", "Red Red Wine", "Family Tradition" by Han Williams Jr, "Watermelon Crawl", "Whiskey in the Jar" (another great irish drinking song ;) ), and The Drunk Scottsman song.

hey i got my signature and clipart to work. does that make me computer literate?

for the songs list
"In heaven there is no beer" as performed by every polka band in the world. That should give you about 20 years of music.
