Drinking songs

Thanks so much! These are great! DH will be busy on Kazaa tomorrow! ;) Some we had thought of, but others we had forgotten about.

Zurg: LOL!

Garth Brooks....Two Pina Coladas, and Long Neck Bottle...

Would you consider Billy Joel's "Piano Man" a drinking song?

There's an older (20 or more yrs ago??) country western song by a female artist ... I always thought it was a riot......... (some friends of ours at the time were very into CW thought we were not)
the chorus was.......

Yes, I came in here alone
and yes, I've had a few..........
but I'll be damned if I go home
With a
Wild Turkey like you!

That one always made me laugh, but I haven't heard it in years

Lets see...
" the old black rum" by Great Big Sea

The Old Black Rum
Released October 1995
(written by Hallet)
I drank 16 doubles for the price of one
tryin to find the courage to talk to one
I asked her for a dance, not a second glance
my night had just begun

Well I'd drink to the father or the holy ghost
kneeling at the alter of my nightly post
and I’ll raise a glass, not the first or last
come join me in this toast

Chorus
’Cause the old black rum’s got a hold on me
like a dog wrapped ’round my leg
and the old black rum’s got a hold on me
will I live for another day

The queen of George Street just went walkin’ on by
walkin’ on by with some guy who don’t care
that she stood in line since half past nine
and spent three hours on her hair

Her friend is lookin’ at me with an evil grin
I think a bloody racket might soon begin
I must have said something to the George Street queen
now the boys are joining in.

Chorus

So I drank all of my money and I slept out in the rain
Every day is different, but the nights are all the same
You never see the sun on the old black rum
and I know I’m gonna do it again.

Chorus x2

I drank 16 doubles for the price of one

Another country song, but I forget who sings it.....Bar room buddies

Bar room buddies and their the best kind
No-one fools with a buddy of mine
chug-a-lug, bar room buddy of mine.

Speaking of the Adventurers Club...

Try Allan Sherman's "The Drinking Man's Diet"

Oh, I'm on the Drinking Man's Diet,
It came from a book I was loaned.
It's really terrific and quite scientific
And I'm half stoned.
For breakfast some cornflakes and vodka,
But cornflakes have carbohydrate;
So I don't eat those fattening cornflakes,
I eat the vodka straight.

Drink, drink, everyone drink;
It's not as bad as we used to think.
With every Manhattan your stomach will flatten,
So drink, drink, drink.

The Air Force invented this diet,
A fact which they hotly deny.
Of course they deny it, 'cause this is the diet
That got the Air Force high.
For lunch you can have three martinis,
What better lunch is there than that?
But caution: do not eat the olives,
'Cause olives make you fat.

Drink, drink, everyone drink;
It's not as bad as we used to think.
If pounds you would burn off, then turn on your Smirnoff,
And drink, drink, drink.

For dinner, a nice Scotch and soda
Now that oughtta help you to lose.
No whipped cream, no butter, just lay in the gutter
And booze, booze, booze.
Suppose you should meet a policeman,
Who says you've been quenching your thirst;
You just tell him it's physical fitness
And health comes first!

Drink (hic!), drink (hic!), booze everywhere (hic!);
Pass that decanter of bourbon there.
I'm fatter than ever, but here's what's so clever:
I don't care!

ALCOHOL by BNL (Barenaked Ladies)

Alcohol, my permanent accessory
Alcohol, a party-time necessity
Alchool, alternative to feeling like yourself
O Alcohol, I still drink to your health

I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol

Forget the caffe latte,
screw the raspberry iced tea
A Malibu and Coke for you, a G&T for me
Alcohol, Your songs resolve like
my life never will
When someone else is picking up the bill

I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
O Alcohol, would you please forgive me?
For while I cannot love myself
I'll use something else

I thought that Alcohol was just for those with
nothing else to do
I thought that drinking just to get drunk
was a waste of precious booze
But now I know that there's a time
and there's a place where I can choose
To walk the fine line between
self-control and self-abuse

I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol
Would you please ignore that you
found me on the floor
Trying on your camisole?
O Alcohol, would you please forgive me?
For while I cannot love myself
I'll use something else

Would you please forgive me?
Would you please forgive me?

:teeth:

Willie Nelson's "Whiskey River". Also, "Killin' Time", by Clint Black.
For a change of pace, "Cold Gin", by KISS!

how about chugalug by Ray Stevens?

Alcohol - The Kinks (from Muswell Hillbillies). :)

Most of mine are traditional British drinking songs, so you're unlikely to have them available to copy on to a CD.

Oh my gosh! That Allan Sherman's "The Drinking Man's Diet" song is a riot! Now I want a copy of it! LOL! Thanks for posting it! :p

Don't forget Finnigan's Wake! The version by the Dubliners(I think) is really good.
