Drinking around the resorts

I promise that I tried searching for this.

Random question. Is there anything preventing me from bringing a small cooler (think 6-8 cans max) and bringing it with me to drink around the resorts?

I have not decided 100% on where we will be staying on our next trip, so I dont have an example of where I would go. But I am thinking of sitting next to the pool and drinking, going for an evening stroll, or perhaps just finding a nice bench, and taking in the ambiance with a few beers.

Just to confirm, this would not be rowdy shenanigans. We are talking about having a few leisurely beers.

If you mean taking some beers down to the pool or sitting area at whichever resort you are staying in then yes you can (no glass obviously) if you mean around various resorts then no.

wow!
i think the OP's question was pretty obvious guys he dosnt know where he is staying and if im correct he is asking if he can bring some beers around his chosen resort in a cooler and yes you can! aslong as there is no glass there is nothing really stopping you.

some people on this board take things far too seriously lol "pool hopping is not allowed" that wasnt even the OPs question! Jeez! lighten up folks!

My husband and I just got back from our anniversary trip at Port Orleans. We brought drinks (adult) and food down to the pool area. There were many other families that did the same. The rule is no food or drinks within 6 feet of the pool and no glass. We put our drinks in insulated cups which helped to keep them cold. Just a thought if you don't want to carry around a cooler.

Thank you.

I am not looking to pool-hop at all. One day on these boards would tell you how this is not ok. I just wanted to confirm that it would be fine to bring my own drinks to the pool instead of needing to rely on pool bars and such.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Drink up...just not within 6 feet of the water.

You are very wise to not rely on the pool bar. We learned that the hard way. My husband and I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and didn't bring our own drinks. It was $10 for a small, plastic solo cup. Needless to say we didn't drink very much!
Thank you.

Yes it is perfectly fine. We drive, so we can bring a lot of stuff, and one of the things we bring is a small cooler for the days we spend by the pool. We put in our drinks and on the way to the pool stop at the ice machine and fill it up and off we go :drinking1

We get our alcohol from Garden Grocer. We also purchase a styro cooler from them. They are $7. This way I can keep the beer ICE cold in case the fridge is garbage. We also drag beer to the pool in coolies. Since we get pool view rooms it's not too far. We've also brought the beer in coolies to the River Roost at the resort for entertainment. The second and third I usually pay oop.

bonus question.

since boats are now gone from Port Orleans Riverside, would it be acceptable to sit on the water taxi and ride it back and forth from Downtown Disney without getting off?

Aka, can I use that as a free booze cruise? Just to note, I would rather pay to rent a boat, but alas its not possible there.

I know that you can take drinks onto the boats within Epcot but I'm pretty sure that you are not allowed to take them onto transportation that is taking you from one place to another (aka if they have different liquor licenses). I think that you could probably ask the captain about staying on and not having to disembark, but more than likely you will be asked to get off and get back into the line (especially if there is a long line of people waiting down and Downtown Disney).

Nope - the captain will ask you to "finish up" before boarding.
