Drink Cheaters???

There is no difference... during the time of slavery that was a law... now stealing a coke is also against the law... a law is a law. If you had actually read the original comment I was rather clear in stating that in the 1800's when slavery was legal you must also accept that during that time frame a good many people saw nothing wrong with slavery... And it isn't a rule against taking soda.. its called theft and its a law they are breaking.

yes but one of those laws infringes a persons rights/freedoms, even if they didn't (legally)have them at the time. Now, if you fill up a popcorn tub with coke because you are about to pass out from dehydration, then you'd have a point; But I think the OP is complaining about people taking soda because they are greedy, BIG DIFFERENCE.

I see a lot of people cheat at fast food places with drinks too by filling up water cups with pop at the self serve fountain! I don't get it. I understand being cheap but people need to just pay for what they get because that is just outright scamming.

Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of people who think that just because they can get away with doing something wrong, that makes it ok.:sad2:

It is sad to see that for so many their morals are worth only the cost of a fountain drink.

And yet again your mixing current values with the values at the time... at the time slaves did not have rights or freedoms nor did women.... and if they did not have them legally then they did not exist since a right or freedom is a concept that comes from laws it follows that the laws define what person had or did not have those rights and freedoms. Just accept that you wouldn't turn in a slave... I accept that you wouldn't have turned in a slave... now accept that for some people taking that over priced coke isn't a crime... I accept that for some people it isn't a crime.... I'm not saying I would take the coke... nor am I saying you would turn in a slave.... I'm just saying that if you are someone who would break a law you felt was so unfair that it was immoral then you are being a hypocrit if you condem someone else that uses that same logic to justify their breaking a law.... pretty simple really... it just comes down to accepting that you aren't the only voice in the universe that decides what is rigth or wrong... each and everyone of does that every day. Just accept that fact and enjoy your life... if you insist on trying to run around like a hall monitor you'll end up wasting a good deal of your own life in misery.

yes, you are 100% right, one day, all the coke will be free to live its own life.

I agree with your principal of not letting other people get to you, but seriously, I don't think you could have used a worse analogy to compare it to. People who don't spend the money for a new cup are not fighting any inherent evil, if they were, they wouldn't be giving disney all the money for the tickets, hotel, etc... And even in the future, hundreds of years from now there will be no books telling stories of how people took soda to fight the all powerful disney machine.

Cheating is cheating any way you look at it. When I see people like that I simply shake my head and move on. My conscious is clear and I know I am honest and that is all that really matters. :)

Whatever you belief is, comparing soft drink theft to slavery is not the same thing.I understand the point you are trying to make, but unfortuntely you did not make your point well at all.As a matter of fact, you managed to come off sounding quite insulting and insensitive.Try using a different analogy next time.

Is yours a serious posting or are you pulling our legs?

Unless Disney has CM's that do nothing but man drink stations it isnt going to end

Unless the mugs are dated for the time of your stay it isnt going to end. If you go to any resort in 2008 and go back multiple times in 2008 what is to stop you from using the same generic mug? How can you prove or not prove which trip it was purchased on?

Isn't it sad that as a society we've devolved into "what can you prove" rather than "I'm going to do what's right"? I say again...job security.....

Why should it bother you if someone else is cheating... lets be honest here. Whether they use a coke bottle or a Disney mug they are still filling up and your still going to have to wait in line behind them... Unless the only reason your miffed about it is because you realize you are being cheated by being charged 10 bucks for a 10 cent mug that will be used to consume what maybe 50 cents worth of Coke if you stay there for a week.

I would suggest that its healthier not to worry about what other people are doing when it doesn't impact you... In fact maybe if you would supporting Disney's over priced drinks by buying a mug and using a coke bottle too... and if everyone else joined in as a form of silent protest… well maybe Disney would realize that their prices are just too darned high and they would lower the price to a more reasonable rate.

I mean, if you think about it when prices go up beyond the perceived value of an item, the theft of that item goes up… So maybe Disney is the real criminal here, charging so much that people can’t afford it and are forced to simply take it (don’t bother telling he about just drinking water… I’ve had the misfortune of drinking Orlando water and it wasn’t drinkable)….

Or then again... you could just live your life and enjoy it... they will live their life and enjoy it too... if we lived in the 19th century and there was a law that you were supposed to turn in escaped slaves... would you do it? If the answer is yes then I guess I can understand your tirade on cola bandits.

....you don't think that Disney factors in the "cheaters" when pricing items? :rotfl2: Anyone paying for anything at the House of Mouse is paying to offset the freeloaders! I say if you can't or won't pay for it, STAY HOME! A person is not "owed" a vacation at WDW, its there if you can afford to pay for it....what ever part that is. If the part you can afford is a day trip, so be it. If its a value resort, but breakfast from a cooler, fine. GF with V&A Chef's table, more power to ya! I can't believe the attitude of "what's it to you"....contrary to popular belief no-one is an island and what we do has consequences for those around us. In this instance, the cost factor + the lovely example being set of what polite society is...I'll bet the same people who are stealing from the drink machine probably don't care about littering at the park or cussing loudly with other people's kids around. Tactless, classless and just plain selfish!

Very well said Katie. I honestly can't belive this thread has been allowed to go on!

OUCH!! What's with that?

You think that people stealing pop in "silent protest" is going to "lower" the prices at Disney? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

People stealing pop (yes, it is stealing when one takes something that they have not paid for) does impact those around them because if enough people do it, it will eventually cause the price to go up, not down! That impacts Disney's paying customers, which is most of us.

Disney is not the criminal...they set the price...you decide if the perceived value is worth it...if it is, you BUY it, if not, you don't have it!

And I think your jump from pop stealing to slavery is a little....:offtopic: .

Actually as someone else has pointed out... Disney doesn't lose anything when people steal coke since Disney gets its coke for free from Coke as part of Coke's marketing.... If ever there was a victimless crime... this is it.

Wouldn't Disney lose the profits? :confused3

I have been reading this thread and have heard great arguments. Honestly, I have never seen anyone use an old mug or use coke bottles or any other container. Am I oblivious?

They get the syrup for free, but they still have to pay for everything else.

If Disney wanted to give away the Coke for free, they would. What they paid for it is not the issue. Disney charges for the Coke, so taking it without paying is stealing. There is no justification for it!

Sip stealing is not a felony in all 50 states

:lmao: :lmao:

so maybe just stand at the fountain all day with the a cup
