Obama:worship: Adds Even More Red Tape and Delay to Oil Exporation:

Don't drill, baby, don't drill.

Institute for Energy Research (IER) president Thomas J. Pyle issued the following statement today after Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced his decision to delay the American people’s ability to develop their own energy resources:

“Less than 24 hours ago, the president:worship: urged Americans to support his plan to spend over $700 billion in taxpayer dollars to fight our economic downturn. Meanwhile, the Department of Interior this afternoon added unnecessary government red tape that will delay an opportunity to use our vast, domestic energy resources to bring new jobs and billions of dollars in new revenue to this nation.

“Though our economy is in a free-fall and millions of Americans are out of work, the Obama:worship: Administration prefers to spend money we don’t have and ignore the resources we do. We are headed down a path that empowers government planners to decide how much energy Americans are allowed to use, and how much they will pay for it. Regrettably, what they fail to realize is that access to affordable energy represents the best and most direct path out of this economic mess.”

Steve - turn your radio to a different station!!! You're going to have a stroke, and we NEED you at future Fort Gatherings!!!

To be honest with you... it's too bad people with your ideals can't seem to get elected. I guess it's because it would be an egregious act to elect someone with common sense and integrity.

Smart idea jobs for Americans and cheaper oil prices. :thumbsup2

Too bad it will never happen. :sad2:

Is that why I get these headaches everyday? I believe politics does shorten life spans so maybe I should. Well, if Sirius goes belly up I won't have to worry about it.:thumbsup2

They plan on building a lot of new nuclear reactor that will produce tons of safe, cheap electricity. Oh, yeah. They're against that too.

I did hear something about building windmills. What are these people thinking? How many windmills would it take to keep 1 city in power and where are you gonna put them ?

Denise, I remember reading somewhere that if we covered an area about the size of new jersey (i think) with windmills, we would not need any other power plants in the US!!!!

They produce an amazing amount of clean power, and I think they look cool! LOL

I hope you were kidding. At least I believe you were kidding but just in case. The MAXIMUM wind power gain we could obtain would 17% to 20%. Wind power is not a cost effective means of obtaining/producing energy. It is one of those "it feels good" ideas but useless, ugly and very, very expensive.

This is just what I found after a quick search, it is wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt.... lol. My statement was just that... it was something I saw on TV, and it was just a hypothetical, that if we covered an area the size of NJ with a wind farm, it would generate enough energy to do away with all fossil fuel generation in the US, besides, its new jersey, it would be an improvement....:lmao:

Theoretical potential

Wind power available in the atmosphere is much greater than current world energy consumption. The most comprehensive study to date[98] found the potential of wind power on land and near-shore to be 72 TW, equivalent to 54,000 MToE (million tons of oil equivalent) per year, or over five times the world's current energy use in all forms. The potential takes into account only locations with mean annual wind speeds ≥ 6.9 m/s at 80 m. It assumes 6 turbines per square kilometer for 77 m diameter, 1.5 MW turbines on roughly 13% of the total global land area (though that land would also be available for other compatible uses such as farming). The authors acknowledge that many practical barriers would need to be overcome to reach this theoretical capacity.
The practical limit to exploitation of wind power will be set by economic and environmental factors, since the resource available is far larger than any practical means to develop it.

Right now, wind generation is becoming more competitive all the time, if you add up the costs of construction, maintainance and generation, right now it is only about 2 cents a KWH more....

But,,,but,,,,,STEVE! C'mon....windmill forests would offer more opportunity for illegal laborers to come into the country just to keep the windmills painted.

Where, oh where is your compassion, man??

besides, its new jersey, it would be an improvement....:lmao:

Hey now! Not ALL of NJ is ugly, smelly, over-populated and crime-ridden. Actually, there are a lot of beautiful parts of NJ that have not been developed at all, or very little.

Aso, I don't think I would want one of those windmills close to me. I've heard they're very noisy.

LOL, I said that just for you!!! :lmao: I figured it would get you out of the woodwork!!! And actually they are silent!

Hey I have been looking for you in chat....we got something in the mail, and I wanted to say Thank you!!! ;)
