Have never been in this attraction, want to try it with my newly brave DS age 8 (has always been a little fearful of dark rides but wanting to try some new ones this trip). How dark does it get and how would you describe the scare factor?

DS did POC, HM and Ellen's Universe last trip when he was 6 (those were a big step for him) and he did fine.

Thanks for the info.

this is not a moving ride. its a show in a theater about sound effects. basically you sit in absolute darkness with headphones on. I honestly thought it was boring. and definately don't take a kid who doesn't like the dark.
:D

I don't think a 8 year would like it at all. I don't even like it at all. . As above poster said it is absolute darkness.

OK, that's all I needed to hear. We really don't want to traumatize him just when he is getting brave. He says he wants to try TOT, how dark is that one?

My chicken 6 y/o and my adventurous 8 y/o and I did this last fall, and all I can say is this is one THE worst attractions in all of WDW!!!

I don't know who came up w/that crappy storyline and who then thought it was good enough to add to one of the parks, but whoever they were are obviosly idiots ;) (LOL)!! It's just terrible!

Neither of my kids were scared although it is pitch black in there. I came out saying, "I can't believe we sat through that!" The kids quickly agreed!

Try out the green sound booths at the exit of the theatre. The doors are to the right of the entrance when you are standing in front of it. My DS6 was not enjoying the sound booth at all (headphones and complete darkness). We used this area as a test for the show. All the other sound activities he LOVED!!! You can dub your voice into cartoon clips, add sound effects to movies (Star Wars is one). This room was a highlight for us- also a good place to duck into. Very quiet except when a show is letting out- then it clears in about 10 minutes.
My DS8 would have been ok in the show- sound booths did not phase him at all. So- never saw the new show- the old one with the Martin Short movie was fun.

I have always loved those sound booths in the room that you go into AFTER the Sounds Dangerous show.

I think it fits 3 or 4 people.
You put on the headphones, and the booth gets dark. You listen to
3-D sound, and you really feel like someone is cutting your hair.
It always gives me chills!

You can easily get into this - that back door is easily accessable.

The "Sounds Dangerous" POST-show is a lot more interesting than the show itself.

On the other hand - if you're not afraid of the dark, and if you could use a little nap...I'd say do the main show.

I feel I must enter a different opinion about "Sounds Dangerous" Not only do I think it is good, but it took considerable courage on someones part to include it in the park.

This is why! I grew up during the tail end of radio's dominence. TV was, at least in our area, in its early stages. I used to sit at the kitchen table, coloring or something similar, for hours listening to the radio "operas". There was the Lone Ranger, Green Hornet, Superman, Gunsmoke and many more. You had to use your imagination to picture what was happening.

Your imagination can do so much more than any set designer in Hollywood can even begin to do. It was wonderful and vivid. Sounds Dangerous attempts to recapture some of that "magic". It is too bad that so many, brought up on TV, cannot appreciate this way of being entertained.

I can and I salute Disney for having the courage to have a show that can, at least attempt, to recreate that for everyone.

Tot is not particulary dark in that there is always some kind of light object being projected . basically I would say it is about like in a movie theatre..the scary part is actually when the doors to the outside open... then LOOk out!( both figuratively and literally apply)

I thought the sounds dangerous was kind of cute, would redo it every so often. hubby would probably do it every time as he used it to catch a nap. it was dark but not particularly scary like AE was scary...not really a mind game like AE was... but good idea to try the booths first

I agree which is imo why a movie is never as good as the book and why I liked AE!
