I can't remember how often we have to dress up. I'm not planning on taking classes...but do we need to dress up for the first few days? I'm trying to downsize my clothing situation to pack but I don't wanna not have enough dress clothes.

Depends on your role.

For most roles (attractions, merch) you need to dress up for Traditions and the park Orientation but that's it. For Performer we had to dress up for three days of training.

hospitality had to dress up for traditions, 'welcome home', and the first impressions classes which lasted 7 days... so all together, 9 days we had to dress up.

For Attractions, like Berlioz70 said, we just have to dress up for Traditions and Park Orientation- after that we have to be in costume for our training

Everyone basically said it! You mostly only have to dress up the first days of tradition, and Park orientation. Just make sure to wear comfy shoes on Park Orientation day! Otherwise you are in your wonderful costume! :) Unless you take classes, then you are required professional dress!

For Park Orientation, is it the same Disney Look guidelines as for Traditions, or is it more casual? Specifically with shoes - am I going to have to wear my heels all day while I walk around the park? I don't have any "nice" shoes other than that, so what would I do?

In relation to this, how should I dress for check-in? Casual or business attire? Since I'm a male, I suppose I'll be wearing leather shoes for Traditions and park orientation? Also, if anyone can tell me, what shoes should I wear for merchandise in Magic Kingdom? Thanks in advance! :)

Heels would probably be a very bad idea. If you're in a park, you'll be doing a LOT of walking. I don't remember what orientation is like at a resort. Unless you're used to walking on uneven surfaces (mostly concrete), going up and down stairs, and being in said heels for hours, I wouldn't do it. I'd recommend you get a cheap pair of cute flats from Payless or something and break them in before you leave.

Check-in is casual. I have a visible tattoo and it showed at check-in, with no problems. Leather shoes for Traditions and orientation, yes. I don't remember what shoes MK merchandise wears, but they'll let you know when you get there :) It's probably black leather or athletic shoes, though.

Just buy some flats that have a nice sole and some support, and make sure to break them in a little and let your feet get used to them. They don't have to be expensive at all. :)

Appreciate the answer! Thanks! :)

I actually think I was allowed to wear sneakers on my day of park orientation. I think on the sheet I got on Day 2, when we found out our work location and such, the sheet explained we will be doing a lot of walking around and sneakers are acceptable if they are all one color and unmarked (I wore my sneakers I used for work anyway.) I had no problem at all. But if this isn't still true, I agree with buying a pair of cheap flats.

I am a tour guide for the MK park orientation - sneakers are perfectly acceptable since it's a 4 hour walking tour. However, everything else does need to be Disney Look or you will be turned away.

Hi, I'm curious as to what type of sneakers you mean... like Converse? Do a lot of guys wear sneakers or do the majority wear leather shoes? I suppose we have to dress formal, but sneakers would look weird. :confused3

Preferably, you should wear comfortable walking shoes that are in good business taste.

Solid colour, especially black, is good. Wild styles with contrasting neon colours, not so much.

Thanks for the answers! I leave Friday morning at like 4am, so tomorrow essentially and so I don't have time to break in any flats. However, I do have a pair of solid black pumas that I always wear with my formal black pants at work, so I think that will work. Thanks for the advice!
