We are going to a Princess Character meal at Norway and I am wondering about my 4 year old going in costume to the meal. I understand that alot of kids do this but we haven't dressed up in the past for the character meals. Although we have been to Character Dining I didn't notice much about the costumes kids wore( too busy watching my dd's reactions). Do they need to be "official" Disney liscenced merchandise or will any princess costume do. I bought a beautiful Cinderella princess costume (that she wants to wear ALL the time) but it is not a "real" Disney costume. Will this be alright? I also realize that Cinderella does not appear at Norway, so would it be wrong to wear it to that meal ( we also have a Snow White costume I think Snow white appears there, right?)

Thanks for any input on this.

We've done a bunch of character meals in the past and the only one we dressed up for was the princess lunch at CRT. I don't think they give a hoot if it's Disney Licensed or not. My dd's dress happened to be only because the woman that makes the poser Disney Belle dresses on ebay that I usually buy from for home dress up didn't have one in my dd's size.

No, it doesn't matter. You DD can wear that costume!

Also, Cinderella does appear sometimes at PSB lunch and dinner. We saw her there for lunch on Oct 3!!

Have fun!

My DD4 will be dressing up for meals for the first time this trip. I have seen kids wear all kinds of costumes, althought the Disney ones are the most common.

And we saw Cindy for lunch at PSB the last time we were there in July!

Let's see.....when we went my six year old niece dressed at Minnie for Chef's Mickey's, Jasmine for the Princess breakfast in Norway and as Cinderella for Cinderella's Royal Feast at GF! Yes, we brought three costumes!!!! LOL!

My niece was the one who INSISTED on dressing up, her mom wasn't really too keen on packing all three costumes, but I put one in my suitcase and grandma packed one in hers.

I gotta say, I wasn't sure about it, but it was wonderful for my niece! She got special attention in all 3 costumes. Minnie walked her around Chef Mickey's, Cinderella went on and on about how beautiful she looked and Jasmine was absolutely wonderful about her being in "her" costume and spent alot of time at our table. We had some very magical moments and also got some awesome pictures! I would never force a child to wear a costume, but if they want to, it's really alot of fun. We brought a change of clothes for my niece for the Norway breakfast, but she never wanted to change, she wore her Jasmine costume all day!

Also I saw alot of little girls in "non-Disney" costumes, they were fine, no one is going to throw you out for it! :rotfl: Some were even prettier than the "official" costumes!

Anything is fine. It's fun for the kids to dres sup if they enjoy that sort of thing. My DD's love to dress up. My oldest wore a Meg costume to a few princess meals just because she loves Meg. She had fun and got plenty of special attention for "being Meg" even though Meg wasn't at any of the meals. Have fun!

sorry to barge in on your thread (and yes, i think it's a great idea for your dd to dress up, regardless of the dress!)....

i know that i was told that ariel was there (by a CM, so i hope he's right), but are there any other princesses that ALWAYS appear? is belle one of them?

we're taking our 3 for the princess lunch on their birthday, and my girls really want to see belle and ariel (i've got one wearing the belle dress and 1 wearing the ariel dress).

thanks!

Nothing against Disney but the non-Disney costume I bought that I think is a Cinderella type dress is really beautiful..I have never seen one this nice by Disney that's why she loves it so much I guess! No wait I did see one this nice by Disney but it was $108...a little steep I think!

Thanks to all for the input!

Last trip DD dressed for PSB as Mulan. She was the only little girl in that costume and Mulan was so pleased to see her. This trip we're doing CRT for lunch and DD is using her Halloween costume. She will be Tinkerbelle! :wizard:

They don't guarantee ANY particular princess will be there. At our lunch in July, we saw Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Aurora and Cinderella. I think its usually Snow White and not Cinderella, but I have heard of others occasionally seeing Cinderella as well.

At breakfast, I believe its usually Snow White, Belle, Mulan, Jasmine and Aurora.

I just ordered some costumes from that lady!

My DD wore her Snow White dress the day we did the PSB, her Cinderella dress the day we did 1900 Park Fare and Sleeping Beauty dresss one day-just because she wanted to. She wore them the entire days even! I brought shorts to change into but she was not having it!

It was fun to have them on during the meals but it was probably even more fun to have her in them while we 'did' the parks. CM's were so sweet to her-stopping as they walk by to say 'Hi, Princess'! and she got quite a few 'awww, isn't she cute' looks and comments from other guests. She probably did not get that part -but being a proud mama I loved that part! I say if she wants to wear the dress-go for it!!!

On Oct 2 for lunch at PSB we had Ariel at the entrance greeting guests, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, and Snow White.

Jasmine and Mulan are usually at breakfast and Cinderella and Ariel are usually at lunch and dinner.

My DD loves to dress up in princess costumes for eating and for the parks. She loves the special attention she gets. Had a little pixie dust to their hair from the barber shop and the CM's really give a lot of special attention. It's fun for me to see the other characters and CM's interact with her. Although this last Sun. we went to CRT and my DD dressed up like Belle (her favorite) and she was a little diappointed that Belle wasn't their, But Cinderella talked to her for a long time about Belle and told her she was going to a Royal Ball. Wendy was there and give her extra attention due to the pixie dust and my DD had on a tinkerbelle ring. Very magical.

thanks to those of you who let me know who was there for lunch..my girls (who have recently begun telling me that they "are" belle and ariel) have been telling anyone who will listen that they are eating lunch with belle and ariel on their birthday...just thought i'd double check and make sure that most likely WILL be the plan. we've done the character meal thing before, so they understand that they won't actually eat with them, AND we're doing ariel's grotto and belle's storytime on their birthday just to make sure we won't miss them ...

thanks!
