Dresses in the Parks???

I heard a little something about not being able to wear your wedding dress/gowns in certain places at Disney? Specifically in the parks...has anyone heard anything about this? And if so, how is it any different than all those little girls running around in their princess dresses all day long??? I'd like to be able to be a kid in my gown for the day and enjoy all the $ I spent on it.

You can't wear a wedding dress in the parks, or any other sort of costume.

They don't want little girls to mistake you for one of the princesses. Children over the age 9 are not supposed to wear costumes.

You can wear your dress to MNSSHP. I think because MVMCP is also a hard ticket event you can dress up for that so you could also wear your dress then.

You can wear it to any of the resorts and if you are having a DFTW you could also book a bridal portrait shoot in any of the parks and wear your dress!!

But even with the bridal portrait, it's when other guests are not in the parks, because they are when the parks are not opened yet. Or during a dessert party, when you have to have a special escort take you through the parks or you go backstage.

Unfortunately, I'm not a Disney bride, but we're having a Just Married shoot at Disney in our wedding attire at the resorts. I actually asked this same question a while back, and the responses confirmed that you can wear your dress at the resorts. I also called both Grand Floridian and Port Orleans (the resorts we're shooting at) and asked permission. We were given the green light by both resorts.

Yes. Disney only prohibits wedding attire inside the park, and you don't need permission to wear your dress at any resort.

No offense but why would you want to wear it at a park? I mean, there is a chance you could ruin the dress and I can understand going for taking photos, but do you mean you want to run around the park in your dress? If it didn't look like those huge dresses, it could work. The little girls who wear those princess dresses are not ruining an expensive gown. Wouldn't you want to be comfortable? Comfortable to be ok if your clothes got sweaty and had some stains?

I think my biggest reasons for wanting to wear my dress are that this is my second marriage and in my first I didn't get the chance to enjoy it and because we're not having a reception. I'm not investing a ton of $ in it and it won't be a huge princess dress. Most women only wear it once and have it cleaned and bagged in storage...that's so boring to me. I say wear it and enjoy it!

it won't be a huge princess dress.

If it's short and doesn't look so much like a bridal gown and you don't wear your veil....you might be ok. Especially at a place like EPCOT. I have seen tons of ladies out for the night wearing very nice dresses and heels etc....I mean, if you wear a white dress and have your hair done nicely and are not wearing a veil or carrying flowers, you would still be basically dressed for your wedding, but I'd think you'd be ok...

I was thinking the same kinda thing...great minds think alike No, I don't actually have one yet...currently shopping...but it'll definately be simple, beachy...we're getting married on Daytona Beach cuz Disney is crazy$ and we can't do it our way...which is extremely simple. Not unless anyone can tell me a way that we can...it's not too late

My mom could not make it to our VR as she was to ill to travel
When she got the ok to go we took her in OCt. and I wore my dress to MVMCP.
So if you are there during the parties you can were your dress at the party as your costume.
