dresses from lightinthebox

Hello ladies, I tried asking this on the budget board, but no one seems to know, so I thought maybe some of you would! Hubby and I are doing a vow renewal and I came across the lightinabox website. I'm curious if anyone has purchased from this site and what your experience was, positive or negative... did the dresses run true to size? was the color off? did it arrive in good condition? etc....

I haven't purchased myself, but I have a friend who is very happy with this site. She is very curvey, but also very small and they hadn't had any problems to make a few custom evening gowns for her. They weren't wedding gowns - but I hope this helps!

The only thing we've ordered from the site is a veil. We got it...and it's fine...but you can just tell that it's cheapy. And that's what that site is anyway--cheapy stuff.

It'll work, but it may not be 'grand.' That's been my experience though. Again, I've only ever ordered veils.

I had a bad experience with Light In the Box. I paid extra for a "custom" dress supposedly made to my measurements, but all they did was take a too-small dress and let it out in the side seams. It did not fit, and there was not much selvage left to do anything with.

The dress also just looked cheap. The sequin embellishment looked like something from the clearance bin at Jo-Ann Fabrics. Citing high return shipping costs to China, Light in the Box refused to take the dress back and instead gave me a partial refund. When I tried to review the dress on their site, they kept deleting my negative review.

Thanks for the responses. Between this board and doing a little more research, I'm getting very mixed reviews. Lurkyloo - I noticed there were no negative reviews on any of the dresses I checked on, which I thought was a little weird! Now to decide if the $100 is worth the risk.... it'll be for a beach renewal and then quite probably a "trash the dress" photo session.

I got my dress from light in the box and I couldn't be happier with it. Granted, I bought one of the "more expensive" dresses from the site, and a stye that had upwards of 25 reviews where the reviewers also posted pictures of themselves in their dresses.

The workmanship and fabric was beautiful and it fit me like a glove (I opted for a custom dress).

I also got my daughter's flower girl dress from LitB and it, also, was lovely.
