Dress for Dinners?

Well, to tell you the truth, I've been reading this board for two years and there's no way I could ever stop. I took my first Disney Cruise 1 1/2 years ago and am heading for another one in 3 weeks. I have enjoyed reading the threads and I know that 99% of the people posting here are funny, interesting, and extremely nice and helpful folks. I've gained a lot of knowledge here and appreciate you very much.

Thanks so much and please keep up the interesting talk. It's a terrific place to visit.

On the 10/23 cruise, it was a mix of everything. The only thing I saw that was not appropriate was someone wearing paint splattered green shorts to Animator's on the second night, but it wasn't a huge deal. I wore a nice jean skirt and black sweater to Triton's, a pair of black dress pants and a red sweater to Animator's, and a grey skirt with cream colored sweater for Palo's. My boyfriend generally wore kahki pants and dress shirts to Triton's and Animator's, and a suit with a tie to Palo's. He did, however, wear sneakers with his suit to Palo's by mistake Hehe He had some giggles, but it was cute.

The only time I saw anyone turned away was a family who came in trying to eat in their wet bathing suits at Triton's for breakfast. While it was ok to eat in t-shirts and shorts, I can understand why wet bathing suits were not

Wow....I never thought this post would cause this much trouble. First, let me say this...I would like to go to dinner in a nice sun dress...it's not me I worry about. I was more concerned for my husband who would rather not dress up. He would prefer to wear a polo shirt and dockers. I wanted to ask others who have been on the Wonder what they wore to make sure he didn't feel too out of place. Sorry if it caused others to be nasty toward people on this board. That was not my intention.

Annae, don't worry about all the ruckus around here. It seems to ALWAYS happen, no matter what cruise board you're on. Someone asks and all 55,000 of your closest friends each have their own opinion. And then there are those that just have to be mean and cause problems (we ignore them ), so don't worry about it.
If your DH is more comfortable in a polo and dockers at dinner, then he's fine. ENJOY YOUR CRUISE & YOUR DINNERS!

DH and I have been on 2 Magic cruises and both times we took, and wore, formal clothes. We never wore shorts or jeans to any of the dinners, but usually changed clothes after dinner and before going to the show so we would be more comfortable. That said, on our Wonder cruise in January we will not be taking any formal clothes. My parents are going with us and they will not be dressing formal at Triton's either. The guys will wear nice slacks and shirts, and the girls will wear slacks/blouses or sundresses. If anyone in the dining room doesn't like it, that's their problem, not ours. Why people concern themselves so much with what others are wearing is beyond me. I'm on vacation to relax and enjoy myself and my family. I do not care one hoot what somebody else chooses to wear.

I think for the most part we all agree Chatty, but as soon as everyone becomes too relaxed, then John and Jane Doe will start strolling into dinner, directly from the pool, or right from touring some port in the hot sun all day and no one wants that to happen.

The funny thing is sometimes my dressy knee length golf style shorts and expensive sweater sets are a lot dressier than what some people may be wearing when they consider themselves dressed up. I would certainly feel a lot better dressed like this than some of the getups that I've seen people wear to dinner. Skin tight, low cut, barely covering your butt dresses and stained pants with wrinkled shirts and sneakers are some of the "nice" dress clothes that I've seen enter the dining rooms on both the Wonder and the Magic.
I frankly don't care what people are wearing on vacation if they're neat, clean, and presentable.

I am sure that in your area there are resturants that would not allow you to enter in shorts and tank top. Maybe you do not frequent these places for that reason but they are there. But you would force your short and flip flop wearing self on others who have opted to try for a little class on a special vacation.
Maybe Myrtle Beach, the Redneck Riveraria, would be more appropiate. The last time I was there, about 6 years ago, they practiced the very style of dinning you mention.

Why would you possibly feel the need to be so rude in your reply? And clothes don't give you class, it's something you either have or don't have and obviously you lacked it in your choice of reply! And for your information, they aren't always alternative restaurants for those who don't feel like getting dressed up, just fast food and room service on the Wonder. I just hope that I never end up with you as my tablemate or I'd be forced to buy a tank top and show up to ruin your dinner. Having a differing opinion is great, just try and state it with alittle class and friendliness.
