my dh was planning to wear colored tshirt, the type with a pocket, cargo type shorts
me shorts with a nice top/blouse same for the girls

is this way to casual

I wouldn't say it is *way* too casual, it is definitely within the dress code. It is a teeny bit more casual than most people will be (except at 'Ohana, which is not a signature restaurant, so anything goes), but you won't be the most casual people there either.

By the way, I'm in New Mexico also.

does the heat and humidity affect you when your at disney
Yeah, I'm from the East Coast originally and used to be a CM and it never bothered me at the time, but I was shocked how much the humidity bothered me back in September! I'm not used to it anymore.

That said, with all the snow we've been getting here, I'm looking forward to some heat! What's with this thing where it's not even 60° here?

So IYO what do most people wear to the signature places? This will be our first trip, on DxDDP and not sure what to wear.

DH wore cotton pants and a polo shirt. I wore capris and a nice blouse. DD5 wore a dress. We didn't feel under dressed. It was a MK day and we had returned to our CR room to freshen up before we went. To tell you the truth I never noticed what anyone else was wearing ;)

We always wear dress shorts and shirts with collars, however, you won't be turned away in a t-shirt although I would stay away from ones with "dirty" language on them like "Universal Studios".:rotfl2:

Shorts and polo for DH, shorts and cotton plain top for me. Sneakers and crocs on our feet. The dress code really only prohibits beach/swimwear, torn clothing, obscene language or graphics on clothing, and hats.

I saw a couple in Flying Fish wearing swimwear.. not sure how much the dress code is enforced.
I'm certain you will be fine. Some people come from the parks. We tend to eat a later dinner after we've showered and we're dressed nicely.

I'd say khaki shorts or khakis or jeans for men/boys with a polo shirt or short sleeve button down shirt (T-shirt for kids is pretty normal), a skirt or dress or longer shorts or capris or slacks for women/girls with a nice shirt. Sandals or sneakers are fine.

Again, you can definitely just go in shorts or a T-shirt as long as they're not ripped, no obscene language, etc. It's definitely acceptable, so if that's what you feel most comfortable in, definitely don't feel like you can't wear it. But if you want to know how most people dress, in my experience what I posted above is more the average.

I think the first time we went to a signature restaurant, my DH wore khakis, a polo shirt, and slip-on shoes, and I wore a long sundress and sandals. The next time, DH wore khaki shorts, a polo shirt, and sneakers, and I wore a skirt, a sleeveless shirt, and sandals. I'd say we were dressed pretty average compared to the other people there.

IMHO - shorts and T's are fine for an early dinner, 5PM or so, with kids, especially if you are not going back to your room to freshen up.

After 7PM I'd go with khakis/pants, collared shirt for the guys, and fun, summer dresses for the women and girls. Special night out, then sport coats for the men, and nice dresses for the ladies, wear your good jewelry too!

It's ALWAYS better to be overdressed than under...

You will be fine! I've eaten at most of those restaurants and that is exactly how the majority of patrons dress. I found that most people come straight from the parks and do not change before dining.

A Signature restaurant is a step above the regular restaurants. We always dress up a bit. I agree with Tilly, DH wears dress khaki shorts and a collared sport shirt. I wear capris and a fancy blouse. Most people will be dressed this way.
As others have said, you won't be turned away dressed the way you describe. But it is a nice restaurant and we are more comfortable looking nice.

Our upcoming trip will be our first signature dining experience. I plan on wearing summer dresses and I am going to pack dress shorts/nice shirts with collars for my DH. I look forward to dressing up a bit, but still in a casual way. I have found some great buys at TJ Maxx this spring for our trip :)

I would definitely go with a collared shirt for DH. I wore a skirt (slightly mini - from Izod, golf skirt, but looked dressy with shorts built it) and sleeveless top, DH wore a polo and shorts, and my girls wore sundresses. Again, that was pretty comparable, although Narcoosee's did feel more dressy. It wasn't at all stuffy, just lovely, and my girls LOVED it at 2 and 9.

This is how we usually go also although DH will wear khaki slacks more then shorts - even in Sept when it's humid. We like to dress a little nicer when going to a restaurant that's a little nicer.

That said, the dress code is not restrictive and guests can wear pretty much anything they like except for pool/beach attire.

If you decide to go sleeveless though, be prepared that they blast the A/C in the restaurants. I ended up buying a mickey shawl because all I brought were sleeveless sundresses and shirts for dinner. It was September and hot after all. I froze!

All of these are Disney signature restaurants with the exception of Ohana. If you look at your ADR confirmation it will reference exceptable clothing under the General Information section.

Men: Khakis, slack, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sports coat optional.
Women: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts

We have dined TS restaurants for decades and I have dined at all of these in cargo shorts and collared shirts. Disney promoted their unique signature dining environment as casual. Only after people started coming inappropriate did Disney introduce a dress code. Sort of like people coming to the club lounge dressed only in a robe. When I see people dress in long dress pants, collar shirt and tie at a signature ...I feel their overdressed

THIS! Me and my fiancee had a later dinner at the Cali Grill last year had never been there before. He forgot his black pants and ended up wearing his cargo pants. I forgot my nice shoes, I ended up wearing black socks and my teva sandals (dark straps) with black pants. I'm sure with how dim it was in there no one noticed my shoes but I was mortified. The fiancee also said he felt a bit uncomfortable in cargo pants as opposed to slacks.
