Dress code question

hey so im going to give some back story here. I originally wanted to do a bridal shoot during my honeymoon however i cant afford it, so what i was thinking of doing was buying a short style prom dress something a long the lines of http://www.dressilyme.com/p-exquisi...neckline-a-line-homecoming-dresses-54807.html so i could still take pictures all fancy like a princess without it being actual bridal but was wondering if this would be allowed on a non dapper day because odds of a dapper day landing during my trip id imagine are not high

I don't know, I think the dress you posted the link to might raise a red flag. Some of the locals here might know better though. I have seen couples in prom attire in DTD, on prom night, but I'm not sure they go in to the park dressed that way.

Well, I know they're cracking down on costumes on adults in the parks. The dress doesn't resemble one of the Disney Princesses in any way and obvs you wouldn't be wearing a mask of any type so I wouldn't think they'd take it for a costume.

But I don't know about 'fancy dress' in and of itself. Honestly, if it were a 'poufy' cotton print sun dress with a sweater or shrug over it and a pair of flats I don't think you'd have a problem. But taffeta, sequins, and heels? You could always call guest services and ask, but as we all know, there have been times where people have been told 'yes' on the phone only to be told 'no' at the turnstile.

Just to be on the safe side, I'd pack a second outfit to change into.

If you put a sweater on top it would look more like a tutu. Which I can't imagine would be a problem. Not comfy for going on rides so you'd want a change of clothes anyway. Have fun! One of those photographers who specialize in Disney might know for sure.

For something like this - call and ask Disney directly - even if someone here has done the same thing - that could be the wind blowing in their favour one day same if someone else was stopped.

When they say costume, they only mean things that look like actual CM costumes and/or uniforms. Your dress is lovely and absolutely would be allowed!

Dapper Day isn't officially associated with Disney, so anything that you would be willing to wear on Dapper Day, you can wear any other time! I'm in a group that does Dapper-style meetups at least monthly in WDW with different themes and includes many CMs, and we haven't had any problems! The only thing Disney actually cares about is that you don't look like an employee.

Wear your dress and have an awesome time!!!

Why don't you do a photo shoot of the two of you on your Honeymoon?
You can tie this in with the wedding photos.
I feel this would make for a nice complete package.

I would pick something a little more low-key. That's pretty, but you're not going to be comfortable whatsoever in it after a while. Personally, I would go for something in a much more casual and comfortable cut and fabric, and get a chunky, glittery necklace from Claire's or something to get some glitz. Do you really wanna be on BTMRR and not be able to throw your hands out for fear your boob might pop out?

Nothing is less fun than sitting on slippery, uncomfortable fabric, checking to make sure you're not exposed or getting stains on you and hiking up your tube top all day.

If you want to go for the same sort of idea, maybe try a sequined tank top and skirt with a bit of a pouf?

that dress was just an example i wouldnt do strapless, i actually found a dress i think id go with but there are other dresses similar to what i posted but with straps. I wore dresses my entire trip last time i disneybounded everyday but it wasnt quite as fancy as id like to go this time.

Because it's a white, fancy dress I think you might be tagged as a bride. It's an adorable dress, but have a backup plan!

What General Tso said. Anything that looks too close to a wedding dress will be a hard no. Disney doesn't allow Disney brides to wear their wedding dresses in the parks, and there's a thread on the a Disney bride board about general cracking down on things that look like wedding dresses, just to prevent this.

Just a thought: since the OP says she Disneybounds, how about nice DB outfits for her and the groom (maybe a favorite Disney couple? If the color has to be white, how about Eva and Wall-E?)? The photos will turn out super cute and no one will bat an eye at them in the parks.

I don't have any experience with the color issue (although I would personally find it ridiculous if they do try to claim a white prom dress is somehow the same as a wedding gown), but here's another example for what my group has worn to the park. This was yesterday, and we didn't have any issues at all - just lots of bright smiles.
