We are eating at Cali Grill for the first time next month. this is our first signature restaurant as well (20th visit, just never wanted to use 2TS credits). i see there is a dress code. my dad will be fine he always wears khakis and collared shirts everywhere. at disney i wear jean shorts and a disney shirt, im guessing that isnt acceptable right? i dont want to look out of place. i do have khaki shorts i can wear, can i still wear a tank top/tee shirt? or do i need to be nicer? i can do nicer i just am trying to figure out what im wearing what day and what i need to pack.

Hey there! You will be seated and I don't anticipate that you'd feel out of place in jeans shorts and a t-shirt...there will be others dressed similarly. However, for Cali I would probably go with nicer khaki shorts and maybe a slightly nicer blouse ... i'd just feel better and it's still parrk touring friendly!

I would not wear shorts at all. As long as your dad's clothes are neat, clean and are free of weird logos, he is fine. You should wear a skirt, dress, skirt, or clean khakis/slacks. This is an upscale sort of place. Wear something that is work-appropriate, or that you think would be good for going out on a date with someone. Does that help?

My 19 yo son and DH wore cargo shorts and a polo shirt when we were there last year. My 22 yo DD and I wore nice casual, she wore a flowy skirt and top, I wore red skinny jeans and a cute top. It was fun to "dress up" a little. We came from our hotel however not a park so we had time to clean up and change.

jean shorts
In the 21th century, jean shorts aren't acceptable anywhere, except for weeding the garden, mowing the lawn, or washing the car. And I'm a guy who absolutely lived in cutoffs in the 80s. ;)

To be honest, I don't remember what I wore the one time we ate there. It would have been around New Years, so there's a good chance I would have zipped the legs onto my convertibles, thus going in long pants and a polo. But for our Sep. trip, I won't even bring long pants, that's how much I avoid them. In other words, for me it's worth dressing up a bit, but only for a special occasion.

Unless they've changed since the last time I was there they do not enforce the dress code at all. The first time we went we followed the guidelines and we were the best dressed there. The next time we just wore what we had on at the parks and looked like everyone else.

Last time I went, we dressed business casual. Kahkis, skirts that sort of thing.

With that being said, there were also plenty of sweaty and nasty looking people in tank tops, shorts, crazy shirts etc. Basically everything they say you aren't allowed to wear.

If the OP will be there on a MNSSHP night, there will be guests in costumes! I don't think she needs to worry. :)

Wear whatever you wear in the park. As long as your group isn't wearing bathing suits or cuss words, you'll be fine.

It's not like you'll be walking into people wearing suits

Yeah the only place where there is a strict dress code is Victoria and Alberts - the rest is theme park attire because they understand most people are coming from one/still visiting one.

I'll be sure to let DD14 that her Abercrombie jean shorts, which she wears probably 3 days a week, aren't acceptable. Per a guy who wears zip-off leg pants. ;)

Which is sad. We really miss having a few places other than V&A to have a dressy meal not surrounded by folks in theme park attire.

I think "jorts" are out for men, but for women jean shorts are still okay. Probably not for Cali Grill unless they are long, slim, dark denim paired with a dressy top.

Then again, people dress REALLY casual at CG in my experience (I've seen a bathing suit cover-up and a track suit there) so I guess anything goes.

Can I wear a dress that is tank top ish? ya know like a dress without sleeves? bc it's hot and I dont want to have to wear a dress with sleeves or a blazer over it hahahaha

Sleeveless tops and dresses for women are fine. It's more that tank tops for men aren't appropriate.

I wear them too. I think there is a huge difference between the cut-offs we wore in the 80s and the jean shorts they make now. Huge difference!

I feel the opposite. I'm glad there are finer food options that don't require dressing up.

OP I was there two weeks ago. DH and I both wore khaki shorts and golf shirts with sneakers OMG!!! We were completely comfortable. And we saw a wide range of attire from ties and dresses to jean shorts and t shirts.
