Just curious with all the threads on this subject

1. I would wear fromal wear for Fromal Night and Semi-Formal wear on Semi-Formal Night

2. I would Wear Resort Casual or Cruise Wear on these nights

3. Its my vacation Ill dress as I please

I am a definite number 1..... part of the fun of the cruise experience is to dress for those special occasions, but I know this is personal decision! :earsboy:

I'll take door number one, please! :)

Actually, I always book Palo for either Formal or Semi-Formal night and thus eliminate two problems in one swoop.

And, wearing the same suit for both evenings with a different dress shirt and tie, saves on packing space.

BTW FROMAL means Formal .. im typing in the dark with the laptop on my lap

I'm definitely a Number 1. DH and I really enjoy dressing up (for each other, not for any other reason). I grew up in an age when people dressed up a lot more often, and I just learned to enjoy it. I don't even mind wearing high heels if it's only for a little while! Even on a cruise, I wear makeup, fix my hair and dress for dinner each night. DH wears a shirt with a collar and usually a jacket each night. For our "dress up night" he even wears a tie. It's just more fun for us!

I guess I'm a "3". I know it's fun for alot of folks to dress up, but I'm someone who just hates dressing up for any occassion. If it were up to me, I'd wear casual clothes to everything. I just like being comfy :flower:.

If DCL had a "casual only" cruise, I'd book it in a second!

I'm afraid that we may end up with shorts and swimsuits being proper attire for dining, after all jeans were once unacceptable. Can shorts and swimsuits be far behind?

We are doing #1 because it is so much fun! The only time we get to get dressed up these days is for weddings. In October we were both in formal wear and it was so much fun - I'm looking forward to not having the stress of the wedding effect my fun evening.

We don't care to dress up, but it is called "Formal Night" for a reason. There are many times in your life when you have to do things you don't like, but that is just part of being an adult.

We "suck it up" for a couple of hours and gladly throw our dress clothes overboard (just kidding) when its over.

Just received an email reply from Disney as follows:-
7-night Cruise (Eastern & Western)

4 'Cruise Casual' nights
1 Pirate or Tropical night
1 Semi-formal night
1 Formal night

Cruise Casual = is defined as "no shorts, swimwear or tank tops." Note: Jeans are now acceptable
attire in the dining rooms, except Palo.

Semi-Formal = suit/jacket for men; dress or pantsuit for women

Formal = tuxedo/suit for men; gown or dress for women
Information for a tuxedo rental is included in the document packet.

We look forward to the chance to sail with you.

I always enjoyed dressing up since I don't have the opportunity to do so in my daily life. :flower:

Number 1 for me, too. Since I always rent a tuxedo, and it comes with both a cumberbund and a waistcoat, I'll probably wear the tuxedo on both formal and semi-formal nights. I just don't know whether to wear the cumberbund or the waistcoat on formal night, then the waistcoat or cumberbund on semi-formal night.

We wear formal on formal, semi-formal on semi formal and resort casual on the other nights....as well as tropical when they had tropical night. So, basically we dress as recommeded and enjoy it!!!! Jean are now acceptable on the casual nights, not on formal or semi formal nights, the way I understand the new dress code.

I am a definate #1 also. IMHO it kind of bums me out when I see people at dinner on semi formal and formal nights in shorts or tshirts, it ruins the ambiance . I understand its your money and your vacation so do as you please just please don't flame me.

We are number one folks, too! Even with the relaxed dress code, I doubt we will ever wear jeans to dinner....okay, so I just ordered a pair of denim trousers from Eddie Bauer...nice dressy denim...maybe I'll wear those ;)

We (DH and I) will be cruising for the first time in January (on Disney, 7-night Western Caribbean) and are looking forward to getting all spiffed up for the formal/semi-formal nights and our night at Palo (hopefully). The rest of the nights we'll be garbed in elegant casual/resort-type wear for dining.

This is going to be SOOOO great!!!! :thewave:

i also voted #1. It is part of the cruise experience to dress up.

I really don't get the jeans thing. I don't find jeans nearly as comfortable as I do khaki's - especially in the Carribean. Jeans are great in Minnesota in the Spring/Winter/Fall - but I don't want that heavy fabric near me when its over 75 - at least not unless its shorts. I just can't imagine there was a huge call for people who wanted to wear jeans into the dining rooms (shorts I can see - under the comfort/don't want to change/its my vacation thing - not that I'd wear them into the dining rooms, but I can understand the desire to).

Definately number 1! For me, half the fun of going to prom was picking out the dress! I love the idea that everyone can do as they like, though.
