Dreamy Spring Break 4/20/14

Hi All!! I am very excited to have found this group! Is there also a group on FB for the Fish Extenders? How do we sign up?

This is our first cruise as a family, we are super excited - 3 kids DS-12; DD-10; DS-6.

Welcome! :wave2: Reposting the FE information. Let me know if you have more questions.

Fish Extender Exchange Information

What is a Fish Extender?

Every stateroom has a fish or starfish hanging on the wall outside the door. This is part decoration and part message center. The fish is there for Disney to place important communications to you such as excursion tickets and notes from the cruise staff. It is like a mailbox for your room.

On the DISboards discussion forums, it is very popular to participate in a Fish Extender exchange. This entails having a fish extender hanging off the fish outside your room. If you aren't sure how the exchange works or the size and shape of a fish extender be sure to visit the links below. A fish extender can be made of cloth, plastic or vinyl. It can be very creative or very simple. If you don't care to create your own Fish Extender, you will find many auctions on EBay where one can be customized for you.

All the people in the exchange buy little items and place them in each other's fish extenders. It is great fun to come back and check the items you have received.

Please add yourself. Information needed is:
  • Cabin number (of course)
  • Name of those in the cabin
  • Their ages
  • Favorite characters ( some people like to make personalized gifts for each person)
  • If anyone is celebrating anything special during the cruise. (again, some folks may leave a little something extra)
You can distribute your gifts at anytime during the cruise. Only one day of gifting is required. You may spend as little or as much as you like. The good rule of thumb is to give something you yourself would enjoy getting. Most of all, have fun with it. It's great to be creative with your gifts and to go shopping for things, but don't let it consume your time and finances. :goodvibes

Let's close the sign up for the Fish Extender on February 22. Many people make their gifts and/or mail them to the ship so the deadline is important.

ITA. Last year we flew in Saturday night, stayed at the Hyatt MCO and went to the port in the morning. So easy and stress free!

I think we might do that too! We are supposed to celebrate Easter that day but I'm sure we could get a later flight.

Last year we stayed at the Hyatt Place 3/10 of a mile from the airport. Got it on Hotel.com for $54 & took the Disney bus. It was VERY stress free. much better than the year before that when we rented a car & got loss at the airport. :rotfl: We stayed at Country Inn & Suites in Port Canaveral the first year.

I'll have to look into the Hyatt! We are doing private transfers because there are so many of us, it winds up being cheaper than paying the fee to disney.

I don't expect to find good deals on hotels rooms this time since it's during spring break.
For that many people, I agree it would be a better deal. It was even cheaper for us to rent a car than do Disney transfers, but not by much for 3. Less stressful.
We won't decide when we flying in (either Friday or Saturday) or where we are staying until closer to time. I want to see how much flights & rooms will be first.

To all of my cruise buddies celebrating today, happy Easter! I hope to tell you in person next year. :goodvibes

I know, right? Time always seems to drag, until the last couple of weeks when I panic I won't get everything done!
Will your friend join us here on the board?

 pixiedust: I haven't heard of any others yet. You & I are the only ones on the 4/24/14 meet group so far.
Bummer you have to move rooms though, will you have to move far? At least you don't have to move your luggage. :rotfl:

Alright, it's official! I just signed up on the FE list! :yay:

I just added our family, but my sisters family is also travelling with us. She's not on the DIS, but as soon as I confirm with her, I'll add her family as soon as she is confirmed.

Thanks for organizing! :yay:

I really don't want to move rooms, but i booked concierge for the second cruise and "thankfully" that room was not available when i booked this one, if you know what i mean. I didn't want to spend the money for a second concierge room till i knew i was hooked! they just released a bunch of rooms again this past week and tried hard to talk self into changing both rooms, but i kept my reservations as is and decided to pocket the money!:) I am just thankful i am able to go on vacation!

I know what you mean! Our first cruise was a KSF verandah room & now we won't do anything else. I thought about trying another room but don't want to get hooked on another type of room. I booked one of the secret rooms (used to be a 5 but because of the obstruction its now a 7). I was very glad it was available for the second leg.
I've read that the CM will move your luggage for you, you just have to have it packed.

:cool1: Next year! Next year! We're gong on a cruise next year!!! :cool1:

Just a little excited. Hope you all are, too. :goodvibes

Hello Everyone. We just got back home from our wonderful Western Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy along with a couple days at Disney. My wife and I have two DS ages 15 and 12. We had a great time and are looking forward to getting on the Dream for the first time! We are also once again Dragging my in-laws and our friends that also have two kids and just cruised with us. I saw that there didn't seem to be a facebook page for this cruise so I created one. This past cruise there was one for the Adults and one for the Kids. It worked out great as it gave everyone a chance to get to know everyone. Here is the page for it.
